While I agree it is important to make the distinction between legal and illegal, I also think that it is singular in dimension. The reality is that it's a pretty low bar when we judge the performance of our president, his associates, his appointees etc on whether their actions are merely legal. The reality that we are even forced to exam their actions so often for legality is telling enough. It's not like the email and Benghazi that was beat to death. We get something new a couple few times a week. Sometimes more. Overwhelming is an understatement.

But yes we do need to keep looking for the legal vs illegal. Even if it won't matter one iota as long as there is a republican led house and senate. Especially in this political climate. Facts do still matter - regardless of this current situation.

Like the Col., I too am less than enthused with Trump as an individual, a character if you will. I would prefer someone a little less Andrew Jackson/Harry Trumanesque. But the point remains that NOTHING illegal has transpired. It's a distraction.

As it turns out I support more of Trumps policies than I disagree with. And as long as he persues those policies I will support his efforts. On those policies that I don't support I will openly disagree with. Unlike others I'm not about to take issue with EVERYTHING he does for no other reason than the fact that I don't care for his demeanor. If you simply must get emotional and engage in personal attacks it's a sure indication that you have NOTHING to offer re. those things that really matter, ie. policy.

Eventually, I voted for Gary Johnson, first because I considered him to be the best candidate and, second because I was neither disgusted nor sick to my stomach at the thought of him. I knew my vote would be cancelled, because Silly Hilly was a shoo-in in CA, but I voted for Johnson anyhow. I suspect millions of persons did the same thing in CA and IL and NY, and millions more voted for Hillary in TX and some other states and knew their votes would be cancelled by Trump supporters.

Did I say "widespread"? Current estimates of our illegal alien population seem to have settled on about 10 to 11 million people. While spread out across the country, there would seem to be higher concentrations in urban areas.

I'm not arguing that those who vote illegally do so in numbers sufficient to SWING a presidential election away from the desires of those citizens who vote legally. I'm simply arguing that whatever that number IS of those who might be tempted to vote illegally, it is abjectly silly, as Phrodeau suggested, that they are substantially discouraged from doing so on the basis of the act's illegality.
