McConnell invokes Rule 19; Republic suffers another cut

As for why Cruz wasn't cited, my guess is that McConnell believed, probably correctly, that he was being baited

And he fell for it. A white southern man dissing and dismissing both a powerful white woman and an iconic black woman in one swoop and then failing to carry through with other white men who did exactly what Warren had done--read a letter already accepted in the congressional record about someone who wasn't then a U.S. senator. Which then Warren used to spread the letter and McConnell's petulant and borish behavior all across social media. :D

John Thune is now pointing out to Neal Cavuto that Cherokee Warren has been warned many times about impugning her colleagues, so maybe we need to take that into account before bearing her standard...

;) ;)

... maybe she really is the face of what is left of the Democrat Party. Old, white, mean, angry and claiming to be a minority.

Isn't the point of taking testimony on a nominee to hear compliments and disparaging statements? I doubt that the rules only allow for bullshit compliments.

This "anger" at Sessions is BS.....its to appease the CrazedCunt Marchers....nit because any of the screamers really believe what they say

Black Booker attacked Sessions, yet

Booker warned that Sessions would fail to “aggressively pursue the congressional mandate of civil rights, equal rights, and justice for all,” and that he would not “bring hope and healing to our country.” Besides being a novel assessment of the duties of an attorney general, Booker’s testimony was somewhat undermined by his own comments from eleven months earlier, when he declared himself “blessed and honored to have partnered with Senator Sessions” to award the Congressional Gold Medal to participants in the 1965 Voting Rights March from Selma to Montgomery, Ala.

Not unexpected...

After the Sessions nomination vote, Republicans moved forward with the confirmation of Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.), Trump’s nominee for secretary of health and human services, another figure Democrats have aggressively criticized. A final vote on Price was expected to happen early Friday morning.

As New York’s Jonathan Chait points out, the rule the Senate invoked to stop Warren from speaking, Rule 19, was originally established in 1836 to prevent anyone in Congress from debating slavery. According to historians, it backfired then, and if the dialogue on social media is any measure, it backfired last night, too.

It's a gas reading socialist pieces of shit down to relying on "dialogue on social media" to tout their influence now.

Not sure which is funnier, The New Yorker's cartoons or these responses. I'm going to have to make a poll.

Sen. Tim Scott Reads His Hate Mail On The Senate Floor — ‘I Left Out All The Ones That Used The N-Word.’ “South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott read the hate mail he has received for supporting President Trump’s attorney general nominee Jeff Sessions on the Senate floor Wednesday evening. . . . ‘If you sign up to be a black conservative, the chances are very high you will be attacked,’ the South Carolina Republican stated. ‘It comes with the territory, and I’ve had it for 20 years, two decades, but my friends and my staff, they’re not used to the level of animus that comes in from the liberal left.'”

*chuckle*

I'm reading with amusement how everything Trump is doing is causing his downfall...

It's like the election campaign is still ongoing. At every step, at every turn, everyone, including me said, well, he's toast now.

More butt hurt from Democrat losers. She violated the rules. Period. If you don't like it, change it.

This is the same pissing and moaning about Clinton actually winning the election because she won the popular vote. It doesn't work like that. Grow up or shut up.

I haven't seen Democrats so upset since the republicans freed all their slaves.:D

It's like by some miracle Hillary can be ushered into the White House, their national nightmare can be over with, and they can squeeze out from under their safe place and party again.
