But for a few pockets of misogyny and 1950's attitudes within certain social circles, we live in a pretty much feministic society
--- Islam by definition is paternalistic and it clashes with western feminist values.

Faced with the difficult choice of choosing between two conflicting values, western society has decided to close an eye to blatant misogynistic practices of Islam, in the name of protecting an ethnic minority group.

Yet with the decline in western birth rates Islam will soon be part of the mainstream religion and it will have a word to say in many areas of western life.
