I've been gravitating to a gluten-free diet and I do feel a bit better. My spine guy said that humans are not made to digest gluten. It's as foreign as us trying to eat tree bark.

Humans have been eating gluten for 40,000 years. We are omnivorous. We'd eat dog shit if you put hot sauce on it.

You know what else is annoying me this morning?

The story about giving your little snot-blowers peanuts.

Well no shit, Sherlock. I thought everyone knew that you build immunity by being exposed to stuff. It's why you let your rug-rats play in the dirt and french kiss your dog.

Egg-heads in lab coats 'discover' things the common folk have known for 10,000 years.

And don't get me started on the "gluten-free" nonsense.

You're preaching to the choir.

More "settled science."

I. (c. 2000 ) Don't feed your infant peanut products !!!
II. ( 2017 ) Give your infant peanut products.

(NPR)
ALLISON AUBREY, BYLINE: The guidance on peanuts has come full circle over the past two decades. Back in 2000, as the prevalence of peanut allergies seemed to be on the rise, parents of infants were told to hold off on introducing peanuts sometimes until the toddler years, especially if there was a family history of allergies.

The new guidelines from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases are based on the findings of more recent studies. Allergist Matthew Greenhawt of Children's Hospital Colorado helped develop them.

MATTHEW GREENHAWT: Now we're saying introduce peanut to your child as early as 4 to 6 months of life. And by doing so, it's associated with a reduced likelihood of developing peanut allergy.

AUBREY: This is in stark contrast to the old thinking that early exposure to peanuts increased the risk of developing an allergy. But over the last few years, several large studies have found that babies at high risk of becoming allergic to peanuts are much less likely to develop an allergy if they are regularly fed peanut-containing foods in the first year of life...

"We wouldn't change these guidelines if we didn't feel that this was safe. So parents should rest assured that it's based on very, very cutting-edge science."

Experience and exposure - what a NOVEL fucking concept!

And, while there's a significant bunch of truly allergic folks, gimme a fucking BREAK!

Gluten-free = yetanotherbloodycashgrab

-3 this morning with a wind chill of -31. brrrrrr

Oh fuck that. I was in Minot, ND once on a travel nursing gig several years ago. In January/Feb/March. It was -48F with the wind chill for a couple of days. Fuck. That.

I like cold weather but folks in the Northern Tier/Great Plains especially can have that extreme shit. Stay warm!

Hey Ferm!

How many of these will you need by the end of the year?

You should put your super cool av back up, Jimi!

Which one? The Scrawny Ronnie one? That's SO not me anymore.

Btw, the new nick wasn't intended as an Alt. Just a new beginning as my life has changed radically for the better these past few years.
Edited cuz of fucking Autocorrect

Dude, you look great in all of them! And glad to hear you're doing well.

Well, I don't post drunk anymore, nor do I give a rat's arse about such details as "Lit cred", so this reprise should be a lot more fun.

Plus, being retired, my time is my own!

Incorrect IMO. Humans only domesticated grains as late as 8,000 years ago. Prior to that was a Paleolithic diet of nuts, fruits and vegetables with some meat. Calcium deficiency is the issue with that diet.

But humans are adaptable and variable. The Paleolithic era goes back 2.5 million years. Humans have changed over that period.

Gluten free is expensive and can result in nutritional and vitamin deficiencies unless great care is made. It is intended for only about 1-2% of the population with things like Celiac disease and wheat allergies.

There is no nutritional benefit from gluten.

Humans are not carrion eaters. We can't eat anything. Cats avoid cold food as they associate with food that may be to old and rotting.

Everything looks so sparkly and pretty.

Hopefully it'll melt in a few days.

Vacuuming is a pain in the ass. I have to push the big round button on the remote and then when it is finished I have to empty the dustly ugliness out of the canister.

:(

I made GF Pancakes this morning. They need a bit more experimentation, but they were yummy.
