I've seen professional wood chisels with Chinese steel have some horrendous QC issues like real soft spots in them. I don't trust Chinese products for high quality. Middling quality and low prices, yes. And such things do have their place.

Yeah, cheap shit from anywhere is cheap shit. But buying quality products from China, from established companies isn't really an issue.
