Hi, new here. Sorry if question is posted before but didn't see this in FAQ.

I am working on a story that has a good bit of story to it (plot, conflict, etc). I think those readers that like a good story with their Lit will enjoy it. I am keeping it as tight as possible though.

But how long is too long? Approx how many words to a literotica page? When should I break into parts? I am writing entire story before posting any of it because lol I hate waiting.

Thank you!

I prefer to make every chapter about 15-20k words. But that's a very long chapter by the internet standards.

You should consider that most of those who write web novels try to make their chapters no less than 3000 words and no more than 5000. That's a good length to grab attention.

On literotica I feel that you would need to include at least somethig erotic in every chapter, that's why I write longer chapters. Because my sex scenes can take 5000 words alone easily.

Thank you that's exactly what I needed! I wanted to keep to three chapters/acts and of course sex in each!

A Literotica page is approximately 3750 words.

Different readers have different preferences for length. I find that 1-page stories generally feel underdeveloped. (It's certainly possible to write an excellent story that's much less than 3000 words, but very few Lit authors manage it.)

Over about 15k words I'd be looking to split it up into chapters; about 2-3 pages per chapter works well but it depends on where the natural break points are in the story.

You don't always need to have a sex scene every chapter. I've posted sex-light stories and no-sex chapters in Lesbian, Erotic Horror, and SF/F, and had positive reader response because the rest of the story was enough to hold people's attention. That said, if your first chapter doesn't have sex, it might be an idea to let readers know up front.

For chapter, at least in a non-erotic stories this seems fine. I read several web-novels such as "Worm" or "Coiling Dragon", and they have 3-3.5K long chapters. That feels just fine.
A whole story - I would probably agree, it will feel underdeveloped. But for the chapter it's fine, especially if you post several chapters a week.

But I agree that it's mainly about where the breaks in your story are. You shouldn't also try and force the chapters to be equally long. If you have to, just make a shorter or longer chapter.
