Hello, I am new to this site and want to make sure I submit stories that get approved and are reviewed quickly. Is there a time expectation for the turnaround of a story once it is submitted? Is there anything that I can do to get a story reviewed faster... ie membership or other ways?

Not really.

The thing is, it's generally assumed that the entire approval process is handled by a single person: Laurel, the site owner. She'll get round to your story when she gets round to it.

Some people claim that new members are scrutinised more closely than established authors. That seems to be based mostly on the fact that it's new members complaining about approval times. There's also some evidence that certain categories - notably Non-Consent/Reluctance - are looked at more closely than others.

The fact is that there's not really any way to know. My first story was approved within about an hour. Make of that what you will.

That said, there are a few things you can do.

Don't use AI for your story, in any way or form. No Grammarly for spellchecking. Use the built-in spellchecker in Word instead, and for the final proofreading use "Read Aloud" or another text-to-speech feature.

Avoid all reference to underage characters, until you're an established author. If they're intrinsic to your story, explain this in the "Notes to the editor" field in the submission form. Don't include anything that might be interpreted as arousing or titillating in the context of anyone below the age of 18.

Err on the side of caution with anything like non-consent, again until you have an established presence. Maybe don't go for a 10k word count for your first story either.

For the rest, make sure that you have a natural style and tell a good tale. Oh, and stick to the dialogue guidelines. Laurel can be a bit of a stickler for properly punctuated dialogue.

New writers, typically up to a week. You'll get closer scrutiny for compliance with the content rules. Once you've got a handful of stories under your belt, approval can be anywhere from one to four days.

No. We're all on the same conveyor belt, which doesn't move at different speeds depending on category

It seems to vary wildly. I recently had a story approved in a couple of hours. I've had others sit for over a month.
