The Living Works of Art Challenge II - Female Body Edition

My little attempt to recreate Venus of Arles.

Ladies that posted here, I so admire you ALL.
Its hard but fun, specially I had to loose my glasses.
But here is is......including the apple and leaf:)

Stay still. Michelangelo is getting some marble in to start his next masterpiece.:rose:

Are you about to swat me? I'm only admiring the art and wanted to touch the enchanting statue.:rose:

I ate all my apples so I used a pear and I don't own a hand mirror so it's a penlight in my left hand, but you can't really see it, so no matter!

JR, my knees thank you for his pose!!

With the set and the seemingly natural light, this pic reminds me of the serial pics Muybridge took of women going through various motions, a very pretty motion in this case.:rose:

Very pretty, and do I see an opening to a little cabana where I can change?

I'm one behind here. I'm still crouching. Tali, Mara and Icy, I take my hat off to each of you. This was the hardest yet, both in terms of holding the pose, and in getting to something I felt confident enough in to post.

Gulp.

I have three renditions of this.

This one is the closest to the pose, I think:

http://i.imgur.com/PkvEa2X.jpg

This one is from above and behind (and filtered hugely):

And this one is kind of an outtake, when I couldn't hold the pose on my legs and overbalanced, but I think it's actually a much better position for me ;)

http://i.imgur.com/dn52eI5.jpg

You're right: #1 is the most faithful to the original, but #3 offers your own variation that excels the original.:rose:

The golden glow of your skin in the last pose makes you radiant, sun kissed.

Three renditions are three works of art, very nice.

Crouching Venus

A terribly unflattering pose for someone with a tummy and boobs.
So this is all I could manage.

Those cheeks. My hands. Now!

Emmy & Tali, With this kind of incentive, I might yet just want to eat my fruit.

Mara, this picture is amazing. Brings to my mind a little harem fantasy I have had going for the last, oh, 35 years or so.

Icy! you are taunting us northern hemisphere types with both your body and beautiful weather.

Beautiful trio Nume, and my favorite is the 3rd.

Belatedly catching up,

What a pear, Tali! ;) Also, there's more than a hint of Kate Bush about this picture, methinks. Lovely... :rose:

GPS co-ordinates of the beach, please Icy, so I can, er, check on your safety.

Wasn't that a bear to do? All of yours are great though, but the last one in the sunlight is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen!! :rose:

Aww, thank you glendale!

Now that you mention Kate, I can see that, thank you!

Every pic is so beautiful Numi. Just stunning.

The first one may be closer to the original, but the third one is really beautiful.

Thank you! I wasn't looking forward to doing that one...

The first is closest to the original.
I'm mesmerized by your shoulder in the second.
And I simply adore the third!

Way to do wonders with a challenging pose.

Thank you, Mara  It was such a challenge, wasn't it?

Beautifully done Nume. Some excellent poses.

Thank you, weekender. It came out much better than I feared it might!

Yes, the first is quite accurate. I really like the light down your back on the second. All of them are lovely.

Thank you, JRP. The approval of the curator is always an honour. :)

You're right: #1 is the most faithful to the original, but #3 offers your own variation that excels the original.:rose:

Thank you, Mr G. It was accidental, but I like it too.

The golden glow of your skin in the last pose makes you radiant, sun kissed.

Ah, the power of a halogen heater... It was freezing in there! But thank you :)

Three renditions are three works of art, very nice.

Thank you too, Ms G!

Beautiful trio Nume, and my favorite is the 3rd.

Thank you, Jordan. I think it's mine too. I considered making it B&W, but I liked the colours and it was kind of an outtake, so I thought it was OK for it not to be 'marblish' ;)

these are fantastic Numi!!

Thank you, hot, that means a lot to me

Thank you too, Icy. Wasn't it a tricky one...

Wasn't it just?! My legs didn't like holding the pose, not one bit! I'm glad I did it, though, firstly because I do want to have a full set of these at the end of the challenge, but also because I would never have thought to be photographed in that position, and I was surprised at how OK I felt at the results.

Not sunlight, though, sadly. Halogen heater, very bright. It's kind of a yellow light though and in the fading afternoon natural light it worked pretty well. Worth bearing in mind for future photography, I think.

Just popped in to congratulate everyone that contributes, wonderful efforts and always sexy. Well done you brave courageous artisans!
Keep up the clever work.
;)

I never would have known that was a heater, it looks exactly like setting sun light! Wow!
Sneaking in under the wire... :D

Here's my Venus of Aries. Not my best work, I feel, my draping is not optimal, a bit 'columnar'...

But it's got cute little dolphins on it! They are dolphins aren't they? :)

You have another lovely one here Numi!! :rose:

Thank you, Tali  Dolphins, yes! It's a beach wrap. Not that I've ever been anywhere near an actual dolphin

Very nice. Draping looks fine from where I am.

Thank you! It's not a patch on Emmy's, though ;).

The pose is artfully beautiful, and the draping could be more optimal only if it draped lower and lower.

Hehe. There's always a risk it will fall down before the shot is safely taken. :D This time I used a bulldog clip, though, so there are no rude outtakes ;)

Draping? Yeah, I'm not looking at the draping, I'm looking at the stunning example of the female form.

:D Phew! And thank you

*sits expectantly waiting for the penultimate challenge* :)

Nume,

All of your images are beautiful; but as an artist who works exclusively in black and white I find the second image of you exceptional. Thank you for sharing.

Wow, ladies, wow :rose:

I'm sure I can extend the thanks of all the ladies who participate here.

I need to go to the coast more. Beautiful!

Lol. Thank you.

Goddess of surfers! Let's hang twenty. ;)

Lol. Suspended by the water?

Wonderful interpretation, Icy!
The sunglasses and sunscreen are perfect. :rose::kiss:

Thanks so much Mara.

I like your take on it. I hope you used plenty of that sunblock. Wouldn't want to see our Goddess weathering.

I hope to stand the test of time.

Very nice, I wish I could go to the beach with you.

Thanks MsG. If you're ever in my port on the coast. Lol

Sexy beach bunny. I can't believe no one has said this yet . . . do you need someone to spread that sunblock on you?

The one and only JRP.

Gorgeous and absolutely wonderful Icy, wow!!! :rose:

Thanks so much Tali.

I love it! The sunglasses, the sunscreen, the sun-kissed breasts. Fantastic.

Thank you Numi.

Hi Gorgeous! I love the processing and composition and POV very ethereal

Thanks. I'm pleased you like it.

Very pretty, and do I see an opening to a little cabana where I can change?:devil

Hahaha. What are you changing? My composure?

Those cheeks. My hands. Now!

Ooh! Hehe.

Icy! you are taunting us northern hemisphere types with both your body and beautiful weather.

I hope to do that for your entire winter.

GPS co-ordinates of the beach, please Icy, so I can, er, check on your safety.

I will send you the coordinates and Numi and yourself can meet me there wearing matching sarongs.
