Trump supporters thought Hillary would win anyway, so they won't be surprised if she does.

All those idiots who pledged to leave the country if Trump wins have to be getting pretty nervous.

Buh-bye.

waters001-504 disagree with you.

All I've seen in my short time here is Clinton people bragging how she's going to kick Trump to the curb.

Yes, anyone who doesn't want another Goldman Sachs employee in the oval office is clearly a wingnut.

If not, Congress will kick him to the curb in short order.

Trump doesn't even know that Congress will have been in session for weeks before Inauguration Day.

It would be a beautiful day tomorrow.........or well it is tomorrow, but tomorrow:D

This election just shows that despite the massive amount of Americans that thought Trump was a misogynistic asshole, even more Americans hated Hillary Clinton's guts.

By the numbers, Conservatives voted 80%, they played some defense against Hillary....nice job!

I respect you, but I'm going to disagree with you here, more people voted for Clinton than for Trump.

Another dimwit who thinks he understands an entire cohort.

To me, Hillary the lesser of two evils. Hillary wasnt going to do anything, Trump is actually going to try to do something....and that scares me.

Because certain sectors of democraps sat home watching tv, and not getting out the vote....we get stuck with Trump. Now you numb nuts are rioting on college campuses, for what??? Because you didnt vote???

Question 1: How many votes does it take to move legislation forward in the Senate?

Question 2: How many Republicans are in the Senate?

Question 3: So how many Democrats must be persuaded to vote with the Republicans to move legislation forward in the Senate?

Question 4: Can legislation be implemented without passing the Senate?

So why would a Democrat be shitting bricks again?

Good life lesson for the "feel the bern"ers

51 Republican Senators will start off in the 115th Congress.

As United States v. Ballin underlined, a simple majority - 51 - of Senators is needed to further and pass legislation.

If Democrats wish to contest that elementary reality by citing the filibuster rule, the presiding officer of the Senate can simply declare the filibuster rule invalid and that the decision can then be upheld by a simple majority of 51.

It seems a minority of 48 would not logically wish to taunt a majority of 51 into that nuclear option.

The Constitution is clear that both the House and the Senate are distinctively empowered to make up their own chamber rules concerning their own affairs, which the Senate filibuster rule most certainly is one.

The only non-simple majority concerns are those the Constitution itself points out (overturning presidential vetoes, passing Amendements, eg). Otherwise, simple majorities in both the House and Senate can do what they want.

I'm starting to feel it too; it feels pretty good.

Respect was getting too old fashioned - now I can say anything I feel about a person's race, gender, beliefs, etc. Who cares about them, if they're different - they're a target.

Reasoned discourse - too damn much work. Truth doesn't matter and facts are irrelevant; it will be so much easier to say whatever I think without considering being correct. I don't have to accept anyone's facts either, especially if they're not what I want to hear. Don't use reason, just should louder. And more disrespectfully.

I'm going to have to learn good name calling techniques - but I've come to the right place and I can learn from the masters.

I'm going to have to learn to hate. I know the right targets are anyone who isn't of my: race, party, political opinion, country, faith. Any other suggestions?

Nope you're doing it wrong. You're doing it the old way. The old way of finding people who disagree with you politically and ascribing racism hatred homophobia and any other damn thing you can think of to attribute their motives for not agreeing with you politically. You're just still on the same script and it's tired and it's why you were defeated.

Because Harry Reid broke with over 200 years of tradition and invoked the nuclear option in order to pass Obamacare. You can hope that the Republicans if push comes to shove will be more gentlemanly about it but they have no requirement that they do so.

Nope, it isn't about the point of view; it's about how ideas are expressed. I see it from both parties and many points on the spectrum. Instead of facts and clearly supported ideas, it's name calling. It's about being so emotionally invested in a point of view that any disagreement is taken as a personal affront or insult.
I wasn't defeated by the victory of any candidate. But I think we all lose when it becomes ok to demonize opponents and demean their motives.
What I see as defeated is intelligence and rationality, replaced with emotions, mostly negative, and an inability to agree on facts as a basis for discussing real solutions.
I didn't aim my remarks at any candidate or their supporters, just at the methods people have resorted to using and the ways they seem to think - and that it now seems acceptable.
