How do you delete a story you've had posted here?

I have this horrible perfectionist attitude, if I can't do something perfect then there's no point in doing it!
So I am having second thoughts about posting stories here because they aren't perfect.
I think I'd feel better just deleting them.
I once told my best friend if I ever had a book published I know I would decide the story was horrible, break into bookstores to steal all the copies and burn them!

I'm like this with everything. I sew, love to sew it's the best of both worlds because I can sew and be working on stories in my head, but if what I make doesn't look perfect, if I see a flaw that no one else can see, I won't finish it. I'll take it apart, or toss it in a box with all the other unfinished stuff.

Sigh. I am my own worst critic. Everything I make is trite, and cheap, and a waste. Of paint, of tape, of time. (Some of my favorite song lyrics that describe me so well)

Editing to add
I'm not fishing for compliments, I always truly read over what I've written and think, Man this is really bad. I don't know if it's because I've read it too many times by then and am bored with it, or if I read it with new eyes and realize this is really shitty.

If you want to remove it, simply resubmit the title with the word delete after it. Also put delete in the notes field. It will take a few days as its usually put behind new stories in the list.

I just deleted one last week and I think it took 4 days.

Don't fill in any other fields. No need your deleting. To help Laurel out, put the link to your story in the notes field.

Now you could just submit an edited version. Put EDIT instead of delete, fill out all the fields again exactly and paste the edited text in the text field.

Put a note that this is an edit and provide Laurel with the link to the story.

Something I forgot for my last edit and she let it go until she had time to look the stinking link up...my bad.

As a self taught artist and a transvestite, I've learned to appreciate life's "flaws". Character flaws or flaws in creativity add uniqueness to what is seen, read, heard, or experienced in whatever way it was intended. Flaws breakup the boring, monotony of perfection. It's okay to be a perfectionist so long as you realize you are a human being prone to making mistakes. Don't delete your work, just edit it and resubmit the edited version. 👠👠👠Kant

Thanks!
Now if my kids will let me on the laptop I can get them deleted. I hate doing stuff on my phone! I'm so blind.

But those that read here are hypercritical and will tear you a new one for a misplaced apostrophe in a title.

Don't chase perfection, you'll never get there.

Write another story instead, and make that one better. Then write another one, and another one. Just keep writing, that's the only way to improve, I think.

If you edit and edit and over-edit, you will soon suck the life out of a story. I'd rather read imperfect prose that weaves and flows like a river, than read perfect prose that is turgid and dead like a swamp.

Let them be freaking critical. Like anyone's option on a free erotic story website means anything to me. Most of the "critical" readers here, most of the time, don't have a story posted themselves. And, lastly, I highly doubt this site is saturated with critically acclaimed writers other than the residential shithead that loves to pat themself on the back and self promote their bullshit like it was the best thing written since the Bible was translated into English.(hahaha👠👠👠Kant) 💋

Delete them if you want, but why not just edit the mistakes you found and resubmit a edited version.

It's not really mistakes I've found, I just think my writing sucks and the story sounds horrible. Stupid drivel no one wants to read.

you're not alone in that. there will be a few here with the same niggling doubt at the back of their mind. don't be afraid. somebody out there will get pleasure from reading. :)

And then there are the couple I've seen that can't quit telling us how wonderful everything they write is...makes me never want to read anything by them! Ick

I'm going to sleep on it, I have bipolar, this might just be me slipping into a bad place.

Don't be so harsh on yourself. You've only got two stories up, some people have commented favourably, your scores are OK. They're not Red H, but they're in the fours. Once you've got ten stories up, and they've all tanked, that's when you'll know if you should keep going or not.

My philosophy is: words, once written, are meant to be read. So let the reader be the judge of them, not you.

I say just write the next one, don't sweat the last one.

I just read the two stories you have up. Neither sucks. Both get good responses (including my ***** votes). Nothing to be ashamed of there. Keep on writing.

Actually I read them both and quite liked them. Write for yourself first - my rule of thumb is if I like it enough to come back and re-read it myself and enjoy what I've written, it's good enough to go further with....

As for critics, "those that can, write, those that can't, criticize" or whatever it actually was they said. Whatever, if I like it, that's good enough for me. If readers like it, that's even better.

Yep there a lot of them around. I won't name names...;)

I do always write for myself first, and for my best friend. She will sometimes give me a picture and a short synopsis and I will write a story about it.

I do usually like what I write, and then will go back and read it and think, man this is horrible! LOL!

There is a lot of truth,in part, to what you just said. Remember, we are our own worst critics. I've drawn great pieces of illustrated artwork and etched great pieces of art in glass only to throw them in the trash can all because I didn't like where I placed one particular line. Ironic, to waste that much time and effort over a particular line I could have hidden in the three dimensional optical illusion with just a little more patience with my skill. I mean, it's not like I'm fucking up with my makeup. I can wash the shit off and start al over with that :)👠👠👠Kant🙀

I've written on another thread today that authors are necessarily the best judge of their own work. Some readers aren't either.

I know I have written AND POSTED some bad and/or poor stories. I leave them posted mainly to remind myself of how bad I can be. But some people like the stories I detest when looking back.

My best story is always going to be the next one. It never is. Some stories work. Some don't.

I ought to edit and/or delete some of my stories. I won't. For my earlier stories I can't make myself write as I did then. I wouldn't want to but they were what I wanted to write at the time.
