EU vote tomorrow. the most important day in the history of England?

the european editor out in brussels is saying that the euro members are dealing with the shockwave and know they have to make britain pay in less-than-generous trade deals with it in order to send a message to other euro counries thinking about leaving: they have to see it'll cost their economies dearly to do so. to offer the uk favourable deals means other member states might see it as advantageous for them to go the same route.

Yeah, the likes of BMW etc will totally get on board in stopping exports to the UK for sure.

BTW once the UK is out any non-EU imports will be about 20% cheaper from memory.

The banana Republics of the EU need to break out in order to begin inflating their currencies...

;)

... and to protect themselves from forced Islamization.

Checked another forum I visit and two games. Who did vote to leave? Older non-internet users? They are all gutted. Unanimous amongst a Yorkshire game alliance. Hull as a port city will be hit hard I think.

Scottish nationalists will get a boost from this, I think.

A black day in UK and English history.

EU far from perfect. But what far reaching political entity is.

Easy to be progressively enlightened and judgy of your co-nationals, when hailing from overseas lol

We did tell you, it was knife edge. So terribly close. I think des is right about those people who did not vote.

Even a percentage of those who are ill or have bad days, with such close vote those who just want status quo, could make a huge difference.

Yes, you did. I made the mistake of thinking British bookies had a much better insight into the mood of the British people on this question than most people, and certainly better than an American such as myself. As I said before, they usually get these things right, especially when they are so sure. They don't often offer such odds on such questions. This time they were not only wrong, they were not even close to being right.

I posted yesterday about large sums of money being wagered on Remain in order to shift the betting line and by dint of which, the vote.

Didn't work.

Great Britain becomes Greek Britain.

I didn't see that. Interesting. So most of the bets were on Leave, but most of the money was on Remain. Very interesting.

It is hard to beat the bookies. :). I have a couple of aquaintances who are professional gamblers and they would say the same. But, well.....this was very hard to call. It was so close, and people are very strange.

The passion of comments, for and against, from remain and leave, and from Europe, shows how strongly this is felt what ever you version of this tune you play.

Seems to me everybody should take a breath. It's going to take a long time for this to work itself out. There's no reason for any drastic changes to occur right away. Only if people freak out. My guess is they will settle down and realize it's a process.

Exactly...in fact, the bookies were correct...it's just a question of seeing the data from the correct perspective.

...

David dimbleby made a wonderful throwaway comment about Farage this morning, that every time he sees a camera he makes another speech.

That could have been said about David Cameron, Jeremy Corbyn, and certainly about Donald Trump.

Why? It was a vote across the whole of the UK. England and Wales voted OUT of the EU. Scotland voted massively for IN. Northern Ireland voted with a slight majority for IN.

No offence; we tend to call the UK England over here as a form of cultural shorthand.

(Reuters)...Thomas Cook has halted web sales of foreign currencies and put a 1000 pound limit on sales in its shops due to unprecedented demand after a record-breaking fall for the pound overnight...

So, the racists, xenophobes and morons have decided to force my country to commit suicide. Marvellous.

So what you're basically implying is that most brits are racists and xenophobes.
Moron.

Ridiculous. The country will do fine. Probably better than if it had remained in the EU.

If you're planning on moving here we have a lot more xenophobes and morons than you do.

Illiterate morons to boot.

Trump supporters.
