How about restricting Presidential candidate selection campaigns to a maximum of six weeks and a total spend of 1 million US dollars per candidate?

Then the actual campaigns to elect a President, also restricted to a maximum of six weeks and a total spend of 5 million US dollars per party.

All other elections should be restricted to six weeks and a maximum spend of a hundred thousand US dollars.

Anyone starting their campaign early or spending more than the limit is automatically disqualified for three years.

Any organisation supporting or opposing a candidate must also stay within the time and total spend limit, so Democrats against Trump have to beg money from the Democrat Party's 5 million, as would Republican Tea Party against Clinton from the Republican fund total.

Any person or organisation trying to avoid the restrictions should be sent to Gitmo for the length of two Presidential terms in office.
