There are not many to who I make the offer, but if you ever visit, lets bath together and share a book, I'll show you the tricks .......![]()
I put my Kindle in a baggie.![]()

Quit that shit or I'll put your head in a baggie.![]()

Come to the dark side.
You know you wanna.
Greyhound stations don't tend to be in the best locations.
It's the power of so many, many, many books in your handbag and potential for instant purchase, always something ready to read. It's not the same as real books, it's just not. There is not the smell, or the feel of paper, or the joy of delicious book shops, ( particularly independent ones, or second hand ones). But they have different joys. I still want all my favourites in hard copy, but having been very slow to be won over, this does work for me.
The wind is back. I know this cause when I stepped out of the building my dress flew up and hit me in the face.
just a few years ago I sung this song entirely...and as you see, it's the practicality I have gone with, the love of books is with me still.
. But while I remain more or less contentedly a technophobe, I think there is joy in tech....it has allowed me to make friends like you Fata. Is this not joyful
.
Thus I want both my books and the tech ( so long as someone else can sort out any techy issues,).
I am not interested n signed books personally, G is, nor first editions, we have some, but it's not any worth of the book, it's the affection I have for its body, I can feel as much love, or perhaps more, for a tatty, inexpensive, secondhand paperback, as I can something 'valuable'. I love other people's annotations, or even defacing, I dislike fly covers, intensly, so I prefer not to have hard backs.
I read quite quickly, and have too much time to, so for me easy portability of books is beneficial. Having lots in one little iPad is a boon. Having no books in the house would be .....mortifying.
You'll never budge me on this. I've yet to read one reason that was valid for me to ever switch. I can and do carry a book to work with me every day, that's no hardship. And when folks say they have 100 books on their Kindle it makes me snort. Not books...DATA.
If tech stuff was whipped away from me I'd probably miss it at first but I wouldn't kill myself. If books were I'd be reaching for the noose.
Tell you what when there's a zombie apocalypse they'll soon drop out of favour.![]()
Gianbattista took the greyhound from NYC to Iowa and everyone kept asking why he had done this. He enjoyed it. He spent part of the time sitting next to a rather round man who G said was warm, and met people going to a Startrek convention. He thought it was a real experience. Whenever I ask about it ( like just now) he declares that he loved it.
I wonder if he is a creepy crawly person![]()

Yes, but then, because I still have books, I them to read and treasure, I would never make the complete swap. But by heavens, I will miss you and others when there is zombie apocalypse.and no lit.
