The people of many States are choosing to require GMOs be labeled. However Monsanto has dictated that the bought and paid for House and Senate rip those rights away from the States.

It has passed the House and the Senate is poised for a vote

“Subtitle F—Labeling Of Certain Food
“SEC. 295. FEDERAL PREEMPTION.

“(a) Definition Of Food.—In this subtitle, the term ‘food’ has the meaning given the term in section 201 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (21 U.S.C. 321).

“(b) Federal Preemption.—No State or a political subdivision of a State may directly or indirectly establish under any authority or continue in effect as to any food or seed in interstate commerce any requirement relating to the labeling of whether a food (including food served in a restaurant or similar establishment) or seed is genetically engineered (which shall include such other similar terms as determined by the Secretary of Agriculture) or was developed or produced using genetic engineering, including any requirement for claims that a food or seed is or contains an ingredient that was developed or produced using genetic engineering.”.

Obama signed the Monsanto protection act without even blinking....no veto nothing. Of course in direct contradiction with his campaign promises to provide proper food labeling so we can all be informed of what the fuck we are eating.

It's not just establishment Republicans, it's the establishment at large. Democrats are bullshiting you wholesale man....wake up.

I'm not a fan of states rights but yeah Obama fucked this up too.

Affirmative action President to make you think they really give a fuck. They don't. It's all about keeping the lifestyle, yachts and cocktail parties. Politicians get a taste of it and they are on their knees faster than Mitt Romney.

And would you like to explain why or are you going to toss out a sound bite and expect us to view it as a pearl of wisdom ala Trump?

They say if you put a thousand monkeys in a room with a thousand typewriters they will eventually write a novel. So it is with being correct. If you spout enough horse shit eventually a seed of wisdom will appear.

LOL. Affirmative Action president does not make me think he gives a fuck.

Well first this was half opinion. States rights is a hold over from when the United States was supposed to function a lot closer to the EU with the states being quasi-independent. This was, to the extent that it was EVER a quality plan, a good idea in a world without planes and the internet. Today it's just a hassle on the best of days.

If you meant how Obama fucked it up Bot already covered this. He has shown minimal shits given about GMOs in general. He certainly isn't out championing this and I see no quality reason to back Obama on this or any number of other issues.

States should have the right to not have neighbors with different laws.

Are you saying CO should make MJ illegal again because some neighboring states want them to do so? If one state has highly restrictive laws for SSM or abortions, does that mean other states should impose those same restrictions on their citizens?

I'm saying one rule for everybody. In the case of MJ well lets for a moment pretend cops NEED an excuse to pull you over. I think someone who drives across the border at 10pm and returns at 10:30pm has clearly commited a crime. Certainly enough to justify pulling them over. And it's not legal where you're standing.

If abortion is murder what do you do with a woman who leaves your state pregnant and returns not pregnant?

SSM has it's own list of problems.

If you bothered to actually read the forum when you run off a rant, you'd know I was an Eleanor Roosevelt Democrat. I'm only posted that a couple of hundred times--and borne it out in my posts. I guess it's the part of my trying to be objective and often seeing more than one side of the issue that has you off beat on this.

Sure, I'd be for Bernie Sanders, if I had any inkling at all that he could get anything he says he wants to do done (other than health care--having gotten to where we are with Obama care, I see no reason to go back to square one and fight all those battles again). I don't give him a prayer of delivering on anything.

Abortion is legal in all states, but some place restrictions, such as waiting periods and requiring the woman or girl see a sonogram of the fetus. Somebody who wants to avoid these hassles can sometimes travel to a more lenient state, have the operation done and return home the same day.

As for MJ, how can the cops possibly stop everybody traveling from CO to UT, for example?

That's cute, welcome to 2015, where you're either voting for a democrat who is for the people or a democrat who is for Wall St. and you seem quite supportive of Wall St's princess.

Care to clarify which one, as an Eleanor Roosevelt Democrat that leaves you supporting?

Unless you just revealed you're alt I have no idea who you're responding to because you haven't even posted in this thread yet. Makes context difficult.

Yep, after 30 years inside the federal government, I'm able to see who is presidential, prepared, and experienced, and who isn't. I'm not so dumb as to think there's a white knight out there--especially one who isn't all talk and no delivery.

You, on the other hand . . .

(That was to Botany Boy's response to my last post. I failed to quote.)

Yes it is legal in all states, I was using a hypothetical for why you MUST have one set of rules though.

They don't have to stop EVERYBODY just the ones they want a reason to stop. Like I said I think it would be personally reasonable to watch the roads and stop people who magically make 30 minute crossings.

Cops don't ACTUALLY need a reason to pull you over though they could pull over as many people as they wanted and I suspect they wouldn't have a shit ratio of catching people especially in certain areas.

Which in no way changes the point. You could WALK back.

I didn't ask you to toot your own horn while offering a vague opinion on preparedness or not.

Are you supporting the grass roots candidate or are you supporting Wall st's billion dollar puppet?

You haven't tagged this to anyone either. You talking to me? I was responding to the posting, quoting me, directly above mine.

I support Hillary Clinton as the least of the bad crop offered us this go round. And there's nothing vague about her preparedness for the presidency in comparison with all other candidates--combined. I don't know who you think you're fooling on that one.

That Wall Street crap is just campaign propaganda. They all are in the pockets of someone or other.

LATER: My mea culpa. I was responding to a Botany Boy post to the Bernie thread rather than this one. It's rather amusing to be called an alt, though.

Like I said you're a Wall St. peon and you probably worship at the alter of Sachs.

Considering I didn't say there was that's a pretty off the wall question.

Really? Then tell me which Wall St./Multinational corporations are giving sanders a billion bucks.......:D

Oh and for fun why don't you tell us who owns Trump :D

I agree we have a bad crop of candidates, probably the worst in my lifetime. However, do you consider Silly Hilly to be better prepared than John Kasich, considering his long service in Congress and his governorship of a large state?

That honor goes to 1972, IMO.

Apparently all of the idiots back in the hollars in America.

Say it. Say you believe all that crap he says he's going to do. Come on, show what an idiot you are. :D
