That's it! Morality is correct behavior or optimal behavior. Religious leaders are often corrupt and evil but correct behavior is a noble endeavor.

I just Love Chris Hedges. He's compassionate and a great thinker.

His background tells it all : He graduated from a Theological Institute but he gave up this career because he was dissatisfied with the way in which the institution was run & he didn't want to make compromises.

He then worked as a reporter for the NYTimes, and he used his role as a reporter to become an activist and anti-corporate,. Unfortunately the publication didn't like that he challenged the establishment, so he had to resign and lost his pension. But it turned out to be good thing, because he's become a freelance reporter + wrote heaps. Many of his interviews are on youtube.

But he mentained his religious/spiritual beliefs through it all.

His point is that while religion requires belief in God, God doesn't have to believe in religion. They may all be wrong yet there still be a God(s).
Along the same lines of if you don't believe in God it's ok because He believes in you.
