It's challenge time again folks!

This is a title challenge plucked from one of my favorite sci-fi writers, Robert A. Heinlein.

The rules are simple:
Your title is "The Door Into Summer" and
Your piece must be at least 12 lines (no upward line limit)

You have until June 20th to submit your pieces to me. I will post the pieces on June 21st when the voting and guessing will commence.

It will be tight but I will try...

But I just got done with the last crop of seasonal poems...sigh.

Looking forward to this one after Gather was so much fun!

Thinking ...........

Summer titties are good
Summer not
Some give me wood
Others, knot

wait ...

* puts on his reading glasses *

oh ... it says, titles.

My mistake.

Carry on.

ROFL

I needed this! (Taking a break from being skewered about pointless poems. I was getting to enjoy it a little too much. Now I've had a bit of different points, I'll go back to work on (not) pointing out the points.)

Hi Trix,
Can we submit old ones (already in main submissions page) or just newly inspired?
I' m not having much of a summer at present.
:)

Last challenge I had a helluva time getting inspired.

Same thing again here. And this time around, I want to be serious.

hello
hello
hello
hello

Hmmm, seems inspiration is out for a walk, only two challengers so far.

Oh, were we announcing participation in advance? Put me down as a probably, then, since I won't know for sure until the moment I manage to get something down and click the submit button on a PM to you.

No advance notification required. Two PMs so far = two challengers. It's good to see more stating intent, however, I was lamenting the near emptiness of my box.

Just trying to keep the challenge in people's minds.

Is that possible? Even in your darker pieces there is usually some humor.

Lost track of this, working on other stuff. My apologies, Trix. I'm in.

:). Exactly my reason for the reminder.

Uh, no, that would make guessing who wrote what decidedly less challenging. You've still got time to pull a rabbit out of the hat.

Damit this thread busted too, I'm in being a long time Heinlein fan, but wow what a short turn around

My original thought was for challengers to pick any Heinlein title. There being so many good ones, but summer's coming and I thought it might be more fun to see what everyone did with the same title.

I've set myself a personal challenge to do a piece for every Heinlein title, but I image that will take me years, lol.

I did a report on Stranger In A Strange Land in 9th grade. The teacher deemed it an inappropriate book and much ado ensued. Same teacher that nearly turned me off of poetry in fact, she also looked down upon free verse and had no idea how to make form poetry enjoyable. Wouldn't it be lovely if only people who actually enjoy a subject were the ones teaching the subject.

that book make me want to sing
'Grok me baby grok me baby all night long'

Well, Trixie. I've gone and done it.

PM on its way.
