You just can't make this shit up..

The Log Cabin Republicans attempted (once again) to sponsor the upcoming CPAC but were rejected.

This year ProEnglish, a group lead by Robert Vandervoort, is once again sponsoring CPAC. Along with leading ProEnglish — a nativist group founded by John Tanton that seeks to establish English as the official language of the U.S. * — Vandervoort has a background as a white nationalist leader. Vandervoort was the organizer of the white nationalist group, Chicagoland Friends of American Renaissance, while he lived in Illinois.

While ProEnglish stays away from the outright white nationalism of Vandervoort’s past, it thrives on nativist fear-mongering. In 2013, ProEnglish ran a nasty anti-immigrant ad against South Carolina Sen. Lindsay Graham, which featured the voice of a woman “translating” a message from an “illegal immigrant”

In addition to ProEnglish, CPAC has welcomed the sponsorship of anti-gay groups including the Family Research Council, The National Organization for Marriage, Eagle Forum and Tradition, Family and Property, which at last year’s CPAC distributed a pamphlet depicting the now defunct GOProud as a rainbow-colored beaver gnawing through the social issues leg of the conservative movement.

Classy.... One has to wonder why the Log Cabin Republicans still wish to associate with those who so very obviously despise them.

With the exception of CPAC I've never heard of any of those groups... Who are they, the lunatic fringe?

Sponsors of CPAC, so yes. Lunatic fringe.

Except for the Log Cabin Republicans, their politics are not especially fringe; what distinguishes them is that they are "homocons," gay Pubs.

They ain't goin' for subtle, are they?

"So, how many logs have you had in your cabin, Senator?" ;)

So given the fact that they were not invited to the CPAC conference, why is this even important?

As the median income adjusted for inflation declines as the rich get richer socialism is becoming a more popular ideal. If the majority of voters (it will probably take a super majority) decide that economic growth for them is no longer possible, they may opt for economic redistribution.

White nationalism is a possible future for the United States. If the economy continues to stagnate. The white majority may decide to economically disenfranchize non whites and Jews.

Because the Republican Party exists to advance the economic interests of the richest ten percent of the country, it makes sense for the GOP to promote white nationalism.
