Should all right-thinking men now boycott VD and other seduction fe$tivals?

If they do, then they are all big overgrown cry-babies for doing that.

Just saying, that's all.

My last year's gifts are still blooming.

:(

I don't know how I am going to top that. Expectations will be high...

how about everyone boycotts it. fucking stupid, bullshit, manufactured sentimentality.

I don't have much of a problem with Valentine's Day. I buy a Valentine's Day card for my wife, as I have done since the first one 44 years ago. But she doesn't want an expensive one labelled 'To my (insert cloying adjective here) Wife". She is happy with a cheap plain one with a handwritten inscription. She values the thought, not the money I paid.

I think Valentine's Day is almost the worst evening of the year to go out for a romantic meal - overcrowded, overpriced, and the service will be terrible because the staff are overstretched.

As for a Valentine's Day Wedding? Prepare to be ripped off big time.

I object to other celebrations manufactured to market themed products.

Who buys and wears Christmas-themed clothing?

Halloween marketing starts in August. Our local supermarket is already selling Easter products, including Hot Cross Buns with a best before date of next week.

As for Black Friday? WTF? We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in the UK, and Black Friday only makes sense when linked to Thanksgiving. Even major UK retailers are beginning to say that this year's Black Friday was a mistake.

Mother's Day, Father's Day, Grandmother's Day, Grandfather's Day etc - they are just marketing hooks. When young we used to celebrate Mothering Sunday - that was it.

Rape?

Y'all live much more interesting lives than I.

We just get each other chocolate.

Buy your own and you get what you want.

We kinda do. We both like the same brands, so we get a big box and split it. Or last year we bought a really fantastic mousse cake and split it. I kind of like VDay because it's an excuse to eat chocolate.

No rape, though. Just truffles and caramels and ganache-filled things.

But, if you were looking forward to being raped and you didn't get it, you'd be disappointed. In other words, be specific.

Consider adding rape this year. It goes great with chocolate body-paint. A little melted butter melted into semi-sweet morsels. And rape.
