I was supposed to be born on April Fool's day.

But I hung around until the 10th. But my mother has told me many times that still makes me an April fool.

I already made my case for April Fools.

As for Summer Lovin' -- I'm not entering. Why? 1) It's too amorphous and unfocused, and 2) I'm on vacation. (Hmm, but maybe I could finish that Prickly Pairs fragment...)

But I'm prepping for Hallowe'en. I'm torn between something set at a Day of the Dead festival in Guatemala (one bunny goes to Incest, another to Erotic Horror); or A TASTE OF INCEST: A TASTE OF PUMPKIN with too many cooks spoiling the pie; and/or something ghostly, a first for me. I suppose spirits-possess-sisters-into-group-sex stories have already been done. Maybe I'll materialize the ghosts of deceased relatives for spiritual fucks. "But Daddy -- you're DEAD!"

I really think April Fool's is too narrow, and will burn out fast. The last time I knew of anyone pulling an April Fool's joke ( other than on the internet ) was in middle school in the 80s.

Time to get back to that quickie Summer story I've got running. Been too exhausted and frustrated from work to write anything at all since Wednesday morning. Conditions at work don't look like they're going to improve any time soon, so if I don't finish it now, I'm pushing my luck to finish it at all.

But in a way many stories here do that because the category gives it away.

A sister is waiting for her brother at the airport, she is back in town to visit. He picks her up, they make small talk on the ride to his place and when they get there.....they fuck! But I knew they would because....the story is in incest

If two guys meet in a GM story I bet that they are going to get it on because ....its Gay male.

So yes the reader will know there is a trick involved, but what's the trick? I think it depends on the cleverness and creativity of the author writing the story. There are plenty of ways to still catch the reader off guard, that's why it would be a challenge.

Sounds stupid, but isn't. Its been discussed many times here how readers will read and enjoy the same damn tropes over and over again with no problem, but give them something new and they don't like it. Its like giving someone who has eaten ham sandwiches every day for a year, some pastrami. You would think they would like the chnage, but not so much.

Besides they would have fun trying to guess the "trick" and would be all happy with themselves when they did.

I'm hoping for April Fool's to be picked because for whatever reason I've decided that I would really want to win it and will go all in. I like a challenge.

It may sound counterintuitive, but I've seen a few articles on spoilers (like movie spoilers) and that many people enjoy a story more when they know the "spoilers". I've found myself sometimes that if I find out a spoiler, I like seeing *how* the events come about almost more than the event itself.

Premise is two cougars who are bisexual and were long time friends with benefits and partners in crime in sexual adventures have now settled down with each other a lesbian relationship

However they have both been craving a guy and decide to seduce the hot young guy next door who is home from college for summer vacation.

Question is would it go over better in group as its a a threesome or because of the age difference could it work in mature? It might be worth mentioning it starts off with a brief lesbian scene before they get the guy involved, not sure if that effects its placement any.

There's nothing in the description of the category that excludes it. The readership is fairly accepting of things, including "Mature" stories where the oldest partner is only mid 30s.

My personal opinion is that the readers in Mature will accept it, and odds are that it will get a larger response there than in Group Sex. If I had to guess on score, I'd say it's a toss-up between the two categories and doesn't really matter.

You'd be a guinea pig ( at least as far as my knowledge goes. Despite writing a lot of them, I haven't read many in the category ) but I think it would work out well in the end.

If you want to play it safe, such stories seem to play just fine in Group Sex as well. I haven't seen much difference in numbers between the age-difference stories and stories where the protagonists are all younger, and of about the same age.

Since you tend to write longer, more involved stories, that could change the dynamic in Group Sex. I doubt it will hurt you.

Your own experience will tell you that it won't hurt you at all in Mature, for certain.

I would like to try it out in mature. I am not eligible in this contest so score isn't important to me in this one.

The only thing that has me leaning towards group is I think they might be more accepting of the lesbian interaction than mature would be.

Of course there is always the chance that if I go with mature the site could kick it to group anyway.

I'm curious what will happen with my latest. I put it in Toys and Masturbation, because the story centers around a vibrator. There's actual sex in there that either doesn't involve toys or only peripherally does, though.

It will be interesting to see whether it remains there or gets moved to EC. It will also be interesting to see how the readership reacts if it remains in T&M. It's only my second foray into the category as well, and the first was more of a scene than a story.

Guess I'll find out on Wednesday.

Now that the boy is down for the night... I think... I guess I'll try to get back to that story I was working on.

I can't understand why April Fool's has more votes. Spring is in the Air is broader and features more topics. It's more logical.

Outside of the fact many members (as can be seen by thread-readers) like to write what they think people will like &/or will please people. The poll was posted by Laurel, who is (I assume) a person, one with power here (though it seems to rarely get used, even when the situation warrants it), & certainly a fool (in any month of the year).

I think the Mature audience would accept the bisexuality better than Lesbian. The factions there will bomb it the second a dick hits the screen and it won't matter how good the story is. Group would be my second choice.

I saw that a couple of stories skirted the "stand alone story" rule. One linked to the previous episode in the text. The other gave a disclaimer that it could stand alone, but would really better if you read the other story first. I'm not in love with that.
