As The Hospital Pervs-- It's Overtime Time

I will restrain myself from the sex joke in honor of your passion and dedication. It is inspiring.

I will be thinking of you when I take a Red Cross first aid/CPR/aed course in a couple of weeks. :rose:

Think of me!
High quality CPR works, especially early defibrillation-- I'm pretty sure at most sports events for children now they have AEDs. It's good to know. :rose:

Sweep, can you give us some info on MERS? Prevention, symptoms...

I've read that it has 30% fatalities, and that they expect a surge after Ramadan when 3 million pilgrims go to Mecca in late June.

But none of the news stories I've read talk about symptoms or prevention.

I haven't heard much about it at work. I watch the local news sometimes, and I think I heard that it is contact precautions~ in other words basic precautions like washing hands, etc.

TheCDC doesn't seem to be freaking out.

Here's an additional link~linked from CDC about MERS.

It is a respiratory virus, with or without travelers, the wind blows here, and it blows there. I will have to do more research but it doesn't look like the few cases we have had so far in this country have caused an 'outbreak' or massive transmission.

The 30% looks devastating, but there are many variables to consider. I guess we will have to wait and find out!

Most hospitalized MERS-CoV patients have had chronic co-morbidities. Among confirmed MERS-CoV cases reported to date, the case fatality proportion is approximately 28-30%

I think it's the same family as SARS. It's a virus.

They are in the MedStation 3,000. I put my fingerprint on the station and the cube pops open.
There is a lot of wasted Fentanyl around. It's prepackaged Fent: 100mcg/2ml. The dose is usually 25mcg or 50mcg every one hour for pain.
It's a real waste, "can I get a waste time?"

I prefer constant infusion beating down the heart rate, and the respiratory rate.

Is that a yes? I think that's a yes.

There is much talk about bringing Ketamine to the ICU, to reduce PTSD from ICU admits. It's a weird drug, they say it doesn't stop pain but it won't allow the pain signal to reach the brain. The patient will be "unaware" of the pain.

Pretty wild.

People are always falling off ladders.
Back when I used to be on ladders I never thought about falling off a ladder.
It just happens.

Be careful.

I never met my real ladder.

Pretty wild.

Will it make me comfortably numb?

I did and I am card carrying trained. Now I want to press on your chest and put my lips to yours.

Then I'll take ten!

Not all at once of course.
I haven't administered it yet! They use it in the OR with anesthesia, and are trying to get it back into the ICU for sedation etc. I wonder if the pharmers will give it up!

fast and hard

Keep track of your card, education is always like: I need your BLS card, so I hand over the ACLS card because I lost the BLS card back in December when I completed it. It's getting to be ridiculous.

I love when they say in real code time: "Get back on the chest."
Of course the nurse's are lucky because the Residents do the chest compression for us.

Yes, hands on the chest between the nipple line an 2 mouth on mouth resuscitation breaths.

I suspect he was referring to "bilateral cpr".
