As The Hospital Pervs-- It's Overtime Time

Yes, here we are. I have overgrowth. I need to hire goats.

Be good to you. You, to me, are one of the dwindling bright spots here.

Kinda skeert you were gone.

Glad you ain't.

i am still here, even before the madness of viral outbreak and overtime i was overwhelmed with school and in love love. i also stopped picking up overtime after the last surge because i just can't do it again.
also i whacked some weeds yesterday and now my arms hurt. goats would be good. i should get goats. i need goats.

I feel you sweep - it's been very disheartening being in healthcare. It's hard not to get angry at the misinformation, the politicization, and the feeling no one cares if we're overwhelmed, exhausted and depressed trying to fight a battle with a virus and save people and dealing with the antivax, anti-mask, conspiracy crowd to boot ...

:(:(
disheartening is a good word to describe the defeated feeling when i see people turn a serious virus into a political debate and divide. i am shocked by the selfishness and some of the outrageous comments. the unvaxxed are the control group, the non intervention arm, and they are the ones that are dying. while they are busy laughing at others and calling them sheep for wearing masks and getting a safe vaccine, they are following the antivaxx herd right over the cliff to ARDS and organ failure. it is awful to witness and super sad.

:rose: we have each other, we know what we go through and what we went through :rose:

 still in service

i would not have made it thru this year without nurses, hospice nurses, and caregivers. their level of care and compassion was over the top. we have posted here for many years, and you have never waivered from the service. nurse jane and her comrades makes this world a better place.

So, like what's the deal here? I don't get this:

Vaccine Refusal Prompts More Than 100 Employees to Quit at Major Indiana Hospital System

IU Health gave its employees a September 1 deadline to get vaccinated against COVID.

In the hospital system I work for in Illinois it is mandatory that all employees get vaccinated. If you do not wish to be vaccinated you are asked if you wish to resign or be fired. it is really causing a staff crunch. In our area ICU's are full and people are flown to the nearest possible place to be admitted.:eek:

Great to see sweepthefloor!!!!! Hang in there.

hospitals do not want to pay for the sick time due to covid which could be 2 weeks, or it could be disability for a long time depending on the severity. they do not want the liability. they will save more money in the long term if the staff are protected. when healthcare workers start spreading covid to vulnerable patients and it becomes a hospital given infection, that's another problem.

masks, vaccines, and public health measures are risk reduction and prevention strategies.

thanks  hang in there too! this will eventually be over after enough people get vaccinated or sick. the mortality once in the ICU is still pretty awful but i never give up hope.

we did not have enough nurses under usual acuity and census. working over ratio and over capacity for over a year is just not sustainable. so many of our unit nurses have left for agency and travel because at least they get paid extra cash for the level of stress. it's just not worth it to stay on as staff anymore. i haven't left for travel because i am almost finished school.

so many areas are trying to transfer to any critical care bed available because many places are full. i have even seen people on social media, doctors trying to network beds for some of their patients in the south. the system is overwhelmed and the level of care decreases with a burdened system.

nurses were leaving the bedside before vaccine mandates. i don't see the big deal, it is one more vaccine added to the list of mandatories we already have.

welcome back! its been a long time.
I had a mild case of covid, and now am dealing with the effects of long covid- with memory loss and fatigue. Who knows if this will be long term, but hopefully not
