If the goal is for our military to look like America, we should be giving a lot more of them the freedom to pursue their dreams and collect benefits.

Somewhere between 18 million and 24 million citizens of the Soviet Union died in World War II ( roughly 14% of the population). It was the third time in 150 years that Europeans invaded Russia.


If U.S. casualties in WWII had been of that proportion in relation to the population, there would have been 18,000,000 dead rather than the ~600,000 (0.4% of the population) actually suffered.


Ukraine is none of our business.

As my graph pointed out, African Americans make up 17% of the American population in the prime military demographic of ages 18-39. Therefore they should make up 17% of the Army in your mythical "perfect world". They make up 21% of the Army enlisted ranks, so they're slightly over-represented, but nowhere near the number you claim. They are also slightly under-represented as a percentage of officers, which probably gives you comfort.

In any event, your math is wrong.

IF, and that's still an IF, a majority of people in these regions wish to pursue some type of autonomy or even independence, and they ask Russia for protection, is the US and EU really going to start a war over this? On the other hand, will Russia puss out again like it did in the Yugoslav War?

This seems far more serious to me than we are being led to believe.
