FAWC You, Two!

Fawcer remember the multiple times I said pull the story and remember your last words to me.

Lastly remember the name of the story. What you buy In life can be returned.

Good luck to all involved and pardon me if I don't return to this thread

I don't know where your complaints are coming from, LC. The story is approved, and from the looks of things, it's doing pretty well.

The reasons for it being posted later than the others is beyond me. I have no magical power over the way or time in which stories are posted. My assumption is that it was delayed because you had gone behind my back to PM Laurel and have it pulled before it even posted. I then made the extremely generous gesture of posting the second draft you had sent. If it still contains errors, that's your own fault.

You suggested once that I could pull your story. I chose not to. You did not ask to have it pulled; you said you would understand if I did so.

And, just to clarify, the only reason your story may have been "outed" was because of your post earlier today on this thread.

"Remember your last word" and all that nonsense aside, remember these: FAWC was intended to be a FRIENDLY challenge, not a pissing contest, not a source of drama.

I won't pull your story -- though I should have -- and if it wins, hey, good for you.

But you won't be allowed into future FAWCs.

Edit: I am not giving this issue any more public attention, and I hope everyone will continue in the friendly spirit this challenge has been, thus far, going under. ;)

When I first looked at the new stories, they were on page two. When I just looked again now, they were at the top of the listing. I guessed that was Laurel's doing (or Manu's, I guess), but either way it's nice to see them up there.

Yeah, they seem to have jumped up on the listing. I can only assume Laurel wanted to give us some exposure.

Thanks, Laurel. ;)

If anyone has noticed, someone has been leaving comments advertising a website. I've deleted three so far. If you see any others, let me know. I'll be checking in periodically throughout the day.

BS Flag on the play.

Yours is the one with the crappy punctuation :)

That's probably mine, I really suck at self editing,, and had no time to seek out editing before submission.

Very very good luck everyone I have read three so far, I really like the aspects the baskets have brought to the stories.

Best of luck everyone!

And once again thank you for all the hard work Mr. Fawcker :D I am sorry you had drama's getting the final list loaded I know that's the opposite of what you wanted this friendly little game to be about.

If so I'm impressed with the writing. All are much improved but 4 are superior.

Eh. It was bound to happen sooner or later. Water under the bridge.

I've managed to read quite a few of the stories that aren't mine and I have to agree with you, James, that they're all pretty damned good. I've refrained from voting and commenting, but a few have really challenged me to stay mum.

FAWCker, might you be able to take a screenshot of the FAWCker page after voting is closed, so that we can see final views and votes? I'm just curious, really, to see how many people might have stumbled up on this.

Voting

OK- My turn to be confused--- When I peeked this morning and saw the stories were up I looked at two of them, and then mine. According to the page with them listed I had no score. No issues there... And as of yet, I have not voted for mine. Yes I'm sure I will, but I like to see how voting goes without my sure 5 changing the votes. LOL!!!

ANYWAY-- when I looked this am, it said I had a 5. I looked after lunch and it said I had a 4.5. Then I just looked it says I have a 3.5 ugh.. Again, this is not about the numbers- but this:

When I looked at my story it says I have 0 comments, (true) 0 views (how can that be is it has a voting score?) 0 favorites, again, no issue there... but the 0 views with voting numbers--- what gives?

Can you clue me in on what I'm missing there?

-Marie

The views update on a later time scale than the voting scores on the author pages do.

Sure. That's easy enough to do. ;)

Woot! The stories are posted and are at the top of the New Stories listing. Cool. :D

Is there a way to check the stats on the stories to see how they're doing? Dumbo here can't figger it out.

It's going to be hard for anyone but Fawcker to do that this time, as only half of them show on the Chain Story category page new listing--but that normally would be the best place, other than the Fawcker submissions page--to keep some track.

Same proviso as usual, though. It's all a false view until sweeps are done.

Thanks, sr. :D I'll check out the Chain Story page.

Fair warning - only the first 10 stories show up. Unless there's some way to scroll the new stories that I'm not aware of.

It's how it went with the first FAWC, as well. The new list only shows the first ten.

I scored three of them 5, the others are solid 4s but I didn't score them, because what I dislike about them is my personal bias against what I call BRADY BUNCH/HAPPY DAYS/PRETTY WOMAN prose tone. But there truly are no runts in this litter.

After I posted the above comment an opportunity came along to articulate what I mean by BRADY BUNCH style porn.

There are two kinds of sin in this life, one kind of sin Barbie and Carol Brady commit to numb their boredom; the other kind of sin Pip and Estella commit to numb their despair. The 2nd kind is dramatic and interesting.

Actually, I think it's the last 10 processed by Laurel (if you can maneuver to be the last one processed you're on top of the list).

Well, someone's reading the stories and I've noticed that nearly all the scores have gone down, some considerably, from 4s and 5s into the 3s. Hmmm. Trolls?

So far, I've read three of the stories and gave each a 5. All three were well-written. One I questioned the reality because of the dramatics of the dialogue, but it wasn't enough for me to vote less than a 5. I also think the quality of stories is greater this round.

First, last . . . I think maybe the stories are being shuffled around.

Some scores have dropped, others have increased. There are a couple of obvious contenders, but it's still too early to tell.

Your honest opinion is much appreciated. ;)
