FAWC You, Two!

Guy, a big THANK YOU again for all the hard work you do to keep this boat afloat. It's such a lot of fun, really appreciate it.

It's really only work at the beginning and end of the process. Which is why I may not be hosting another FAWC right away. Right around Halloween I'll have a pretty hefty class load starting and won't have much time for frivolities like Lit :p

That's not to say there won't be another FAWC, of course . . . .

Um, that is like saying giving birth is only painful at the very end of the pregnancy, LOL. I know it's lots of hard work, so really appreciate it. You must of course prioritise your classes (Dr. Smith says grumpily). This is just such fun! The baskets were an inspired idea.

I wanted to do a Chopped-like writing challenge for a while, but didn't want to start FAWC off with something of that scale. But I'm glad this went over as well as it did.

Did you hear back from Laurel about posting, slyc?

Yes, I'm impatient.

No, nothing, yet. I think, however, if she does, it will probably be in this thread, as she did last time. We'll have to wait and see.

Love the baskets. I wouldn't want to run this though. Sounds too much like work!

Just an update: the stories are all still pending. I'll let everyone know when that changes.

Just wondering if it is okay to let people know that we have submitted a story to the FAWC contest in the Chain Stories category. No hints, of course, just a mention that the contest is on, where to find the stories (under FAWCker), and that I have submitted an entry. I didn't mention it last time until the contest was over but thought it might draw more readers if we all put a note in our author's bio and sent a note to our readers (for those of us who maintain a list). What do you all think?

My vote would be no.

Not that I wouldn't want to draw attention to an otherwise weakly viewed category, but the point is as level a playing field as possible.

Plus-and I hate to say it-you being fan bases into this and not only are they trying to "find" you and give you a 5, but some, once they think they know you, might bomb the others.

That's just my opinion on it others may disagree.

Probably best to leave it alone for the time being. The point is to keep it as equal across the board as possible. Fans of a particular writer may be more adept at picking out their favorite and vote based on popularity rather than quality. That's not to disparage anyone, but we all know how fans can be.

I'm hoping the stories will post soon and give us at least a week of voting before I turn voting off. If voting is too weak, I may change that.

The stories are posted! Good luck everyone!

Oh yes, I almost forgot.... To Mr. FAWCker, I was the anonymous poster who couldn't wait for the stories to post. ;)

Looked at all the stories, the quality is much improved over FUCU 1. Three or 4 are pretty good. That is, they don't read like scripts for THE BRADY BUNCH or GILLIGANS ISLAND. LIT scoring reinforces writing for the American Idol Level reader.

That's me. I think I identified your story. I think I identified DAMPPANTIES too. I'd LUV a reason to one-bomb her to hell but she writes too good. So those stories get 5 for talent.

The final list of writers is:

sr71plt
slyc_willie (2)
MSTarot (2)
TE999
PennLady
alwayswantedto
xelliebabex
MistressLynn
NaokoSmith
Saxon_Hart
mariewriter
patientlee
damppanties
Lovecraft68
TxTallTales

And here's the list of authors in case people want to start their (private at this time) guessing early on as they read the stories. :)

JBJ, I'm not sure if that's a compliment or not. Why would you want to 1-bomb me?

question

OK, so this may be a dumb question, but, if the stories are already on page two, and we "don't send out the word," How do we get readership?

BS Flag on the play.

Yours is the one with the crappy punctuation :)

The flag is called intentional grounding.

That's okay. The two people I blind copied on my submission email know part of the story. As for what transpired later I was keeping 3 people in the loop. Including the last thing I was told which was not this

I do not mention this to look for anyone to speak on my behalf but to simply point out other people are aware so we can avoid cluttering this thread with he said she said

Live by the sword die by the sword I guess.

Fawcer remember the multiple times I said pull the story and remember your last words to me.

Lastly remember the name of the story. What you buy In life can be returned.

Good luck to all involved and pardon me if I don't return to this thread

Ah! A cluster fuck.

Been reading some stories -- nice work guys! I'll have to wait to read some of the longer ones, but it's an interesting mix.

If one didn't go up the same day as the rest, it should now be disqualified and dropped, especially after the author has said it will go up later (so, duh, guess who wrote that one?)--and that it's already been side distributed as his. You either made the deadlines with stories meeting the specifications and not in any way revealed to anyone but FAWCKER or you didn't.
