Someone want to explain "Social Justice" to me?

Marriage is a culturally defined institution based on historical tradition. The whole idea at its core has always been man + woman. Prior to the late 1990s (not that long ago) people across the political spectrum would just laugh at the idea of "same sex "marriage."" The whole its a "Christian" definition is bogus, Christianity just took the existing definition and incorporated it into its beliefs.

Yeah, but, early Christianity solemnized same-sex marriage, too.

Intresting. A gb'er thinks a pg'er is weird.

You brought up "weird"...

...not me.

I simply tagged you for what you truly are: a playgrounder...

...that insults "weird" quite enough.

Have you ever been to the pg and consistently posted there? Or are you too scared?

"scared"?

Now you've got me wondering...

...if you're even old enough to be posting on the playground.

You just made my day with your last statement. :) Admit it, you're too scared to go to the pg. Besides, I told you to stop flirting with me. :)

What I can say is that you're full of it, bs that is. If you read Isaiah and didn't come away with the understanding that social justice is not one of the cornerstones of this book, then you need to read research by Christan scholars on Isaiah..

Your initial statement was that "social justice is the basis of Christianity"; now you're also stating that the book of Isaiah is the basis of "Christianity"...

...while all along ignoring the truth that Constantine's vision was the factual basis for the religion known as "Christianity".

Now quit flirting with me and pm me. :)

You're far too juvenile to "flirt" with...

...and, thus, too much of a waste of time to "pm".

Constantine was an ass. I wouldn't use him for a basis for anyrhing. This is the gb, I have yet to see many men who know how to flirt and their version of "flirting" is calling a woman a cunt or slut. As you're too scared to dive into the pg or to pm me, we will save any "flirting" for another day. BTW, interesting thread. :)

So you think the big gov should arbitrarily legislate Christianity to all? Fuck freedom of religion and anyone else but Christians hua? Welcome to America, if you're not Christian then fuck you!

That's a nice sentiment julybaby....you should be taken seriously.

I don't know of any religion that doesn't speak of marriage as one man and one woman. Marriage does not have to be Christian...but you asked for THAT definition.

one man and one woman can be any religion.....or even none at all.

Where exactly does Christianity make that distinction? I can't think of any new laws made in the NT and the OT had several men with multiple wives.

You might want to read back a bit to get the context of the questions and answers......it wasn't about men and women marrying....it was about same sex.......

Rob, many people use "that's my opinion". For some of us who use it, it is simply a way to disagree courteously, without telling the other side you think they're an idiot. Nothing more.

I absolutely agree with that! (almost wrote "I absolutely agree with your opinion!")

My point is, I am of the opinion that Julybaby04 routinely uses "that's my opinion" to forestall criticism that things she says have absolutely no basis in fact. She's using it as a crutch.

Like the late, great Daniel Patrick Moynihan used to say, "Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts."

I'm not sure I understand why you have such a strong opinion on same-sex marriages.

I liken the issue to my hatred of the colour purple.
I rabidy despise purple anything, but I would never impose my views when you decide to wear a purple shirt or drive a purple car.

Again I will say......when I used facts.....I was corrected to say that these were only my opinions. Just trying to play be the ever changing rules on the GB.

Also....I don't mind criticism at all. My goodness, I get nothing less than that from those on here. It does not phase me one bit....only digs my heels in deeper to "my opinion".

My opinion comes from my faith.....my belief...my religion....whichever word you choose to use.

It is sin. It is no better or worse than any other sin which every single person commits....very much including myself.

My strong opposition comes from the fact that anything that has been held important in my faith is now under attack. It is seen as out-dated and not willing to change with the times. IN MY OPINION (that was for Rob..lol)....God does not create sin...so therefore He cannot create someone gay. In my opinion, it is a choice that someone makes...for whatever reason....and has become mainstream, even edgy.

People are people and everyone is created equal. God loves each of us the same..period. God hates sin....from murder to lying...it is all the same level of sin. I do not have any dislike for anyone (well, yes I do, but that is sin as well, and I am working on that myself....personal people in my life).

My opposition comes from trying to make everything "equal". If gay people want to commit to each other...just pick a different name. Leave marriage what it has always been....man and woman.

It all boils down to every society decides for itself what goes and doesnt go within its borders. If you travel abroad to do something thats illegal where you live, your community has no jurisdiction over your conduct.

Interesting.

Tell me - what would your reaction be if your son was gay and wanted to marry his partner (note: in many places, marriage gives a person rights that civil unions do not, such as access to a persons estate should one die intestate)?

Just fucking kill yourself, you self righteous, moronic, bigoted cunt. Go and be with your god and do the world a fucking favour.

Out of curiosity, what do you think that God thinks about Christians using an adult sex site. where anything goes to expound on Him and their beliefs in Him?

I understand completely what you are saying. I have a family member who is gay. He lives with his boyfriend. Love that family member greatly, he knows this...just as much as he knows I completely disagree with his life choice.

I understand the reasoning behind wanting a legal union. To be honest, I do not know what I would say if my child told me that other than I loved him.

The context is irrelevant. You said marriage is ONE man and ONE woman. Defend your claim or shut the fuck up.

I hear you although I have to say many times sources and facts don't mean more than a hill of beans on the gb.Many people just want to argue for the sake of arguing.

Would you attend the wedding of your gay family member you love greatly?
What if your gay son was getting married - would you be there for him?

I would imagine (my own opinion here), that how one handles themselves would be important. Also, Jesus spent most of His time with those who perhaps needed to know about Him.

(not preaching here.....just saying that there is never a wrong place to share God).
