Someone want to explain "Social Justice" to me?

As long as you aren't stepping on someone's rights there shouldn't be.... there should be absolute 100% equal treatment under the law, and consenting adults should have absolute and total say so/choice/control over what they do with their own bodies, minds and with other consenting adults.

But like a typical right wing anti freedom big gov control freak I bet you think the gov has every right to universally define marriage for everyone in a christian manner. Despite the fact there are dozens of cultures and communities that seek refuge in an allegedly "Free" country that have drastically different views on what a marriage is.....but fuck them right? That's what I thought....

Julybaby do tell me what does gay marriage have to do with anyone but the gay couple? Hmmm? Why is a gay man's 200 dollars for his licence any less valid than a straight mans 200 dollars for his? They fucking paid for it should they not get the choice?? And if a gay couple does get married how does that affect your heterosexual marriages? None...effects them zero, yet the GOP still feels the need to deny this segment of the population the same legal rights as everyone else. OHhHH I forgot ROMNEY and the rest of the GOP seem to think marriage is an evangelical christian only club.....fucking tyrant cock suckers. WTF happened to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness? All men created equal?

Well JulyBaby? Does the state have the right to arbitrarily define marriage for all?? Or do you believe the individuals entering in a marriage should have the right to define their marriage how THEY see fit?

Right you want the state to take control and shove your beliefs up everyone's ass don't you? LOVE BIG GOVERNMENT!! when it's your brand of freedom, your american dream they are shoveling, fuck anyone else right? Fucking control freaks can't just live and let live...LIKE JESUS TOLD THEM TOO!!! fucking morons.

Let's talk about the war on drugs shall we? It is a horribly DESTRUCTIVE and wildly EXPENSIVE, HUGE GOVERNMENT FAILURE....still being perpetuated and run by the right wing happy LE/prison industry. America has with out a doubt the best drugs in the fucking world, we should be taxing it, exporting it and making giant fucking piles of money on it....not becoming the number one prison/police nation in the whole god damn world for decades because of it.

OH yea...GOP thank you for making murikuh the number one prison nation/police state....freedom and liberty you say? Bull fucking shit...

After reading several of your posts it's apparent that you've bought into some media propaganda. Let's set you straight here.

First of all the Tea Party movement has nothing to do with social conservatism as advocated by some factions. True, there are members of the movement that do have a social agenda, but they are the fringe. The movement is primarily Constitutional, fiscal, and libertarian. They have NOT spoken to gay marriage or any other social movement. Not even wiki, which generally leans liberal on most political subjects, supports your beliefs on this subject.

Secondly, it is not the republicans, or primarily the conservatives, that have been on board as far as the "war on drugs" is concerned. Both parties have almost universally embraced the whole notion of a "war on drugs." You can't lay this one at any particular parties doorstep. Those states that are, and have been for decades, democrat controlled have laws just as, if not more so, draconian than those states that have been republican controlled. While I agree with you that the entire effort has been horribly wasteful and unjust, I do not make the mistake of pinning the tail on a single donkey or elephant.

Regarding gay marriage the federal government has not addressed the issue yet beyond saying that states that do not recognize gay marriages do not have to recognizes marriages performed in states that do recognize gay marriages. Undoubtedly this is going to lead to a SCOTUS decision at some point in the future. My opinion is simply that governments at ALL levels should get out of the marriage biz. Marriage is a social contract, you go to a lawyer, get the papers drawn up (or down load some boiler plate off the internet), and after whatever ceremony the parties have, if any, they sign the contract and register it with the state. The entire concept of a marriage license should universally disappear from the face of the earth.

So Social Justice is the redistribution of wealth based on government's noted ability to pick winners and losers...

No, no it's not.
In a narrow sense of the term, social justice can be defined as fairness, however, it's a term that defies definitional consensus. You may want to pare it down to an economic model while in reality it is so much more than that.

So how come every time I see some asshole bitching on TV about how abortion, faggotry and women are ruining america he has an R in front of his name??

I think I see your interpretation, but I am not so sure. Doesn't definitional consensus fall into what 4est Gump said?

Double down on the R and you'd be on to it. The Religious Right.

There ya go. But that has nothing to do with the Tea Party beyond the fact that the liberal media makes every effort to tie the two together.

I was pointing out that before you can discuss an issue in detail you have to first agree to what it means - set the parameters and have definitional consensus.

4est, and Ishmael too, seem to focus on one aspect of social justice ie: the economic one. I believe in trying to attribute more importance to one aspect of social justice is an oversimplification of an incredibly complex issue.

Not really, only the emphasis that many of the 'social justice' advocates attempt to place on the economic aspect. Those advocates are focused on equality of outcome.

As soon as government intervenes to guarantee equality of outcome then the process of 'natural law' and 'law of equity' that Lance has continually referred to goes out the window and statutory law steps in. And in most cases that is enacted as the forceful taking from one to give to another, not under any legal concept of restitution for wrong doing, merely because the government has decided that the one being taken from has too much, or the recipient too little. This is not charity, it is extortion at best and armed robbery at worst.

The rabid proponents of 'social justice' continually invoke Dickens and Robin Hood as the prototypical arbiters of 'social justice.' It's ironic that they can even begin to get away with that ploy, or an abysmally sad testament to the state of public education. After all Scrooge did not need government intervention to see the err of his ways and Robin Hood did not rob from the rich to give to the poor. Robin Hood robbed illegally confiscated tax monies from the government and returned said taxes to those that had been raped by the government.

One was a story of personal epiphany, the other a story of rebellion against an out of control government. Anyone that buys into either as an excuse for government intervention is either ignorant, insane, or purposely manipulative.

Social Justice?

They say brevity is the soul of wit.

Briefly defined, "Social justice is the new racism".

Ishmael

It has everything to do with the Tea Party.

It's about taxes and spending, really!

Libertarians (as well as most everyone else) don't buy this line. A number of polls have shown considerable overlap between the Tea Party and the religious right (though you didn't really need polls to tell you that considering some of their favorite candidates).
* A poll by the Public Religion Research Institute found that almost half of Teabaggers openly identify as part of the "religious right," a majority favored declaring abortion illegal, and less than one in five in favor of legalizing gay marriage.[41]
* A Pew poll found similar results, in addition to finding a majority in favor of securing the border and Second Amendment rights.[42]
* A University of Washington poll found that a majority of Teabaggers thought gays and lesbians had "too much political power" and that immigration was "changing the country for the worse."[43]
* According to a CBS poll, Teabaggers are more likely to be birthers.[44]

The definition changes daily so liberal asswipes can change whatever goalpost they set and they can be the rulers and deciders of all that is wrong. They will tell you when you need to know and when your rights, money, property need to be taken to change it based on their sick ideas.

Because they are going by a moral compass...Usually the bible.. Also common sense You may not like it or agree with it. thats your right

Most are against gay marriage becuase of two basic reasons. Religious and common sense. Gays cant procreate without heterosexual sex or labs/ medical.

You may or may not like it but its fact and common sense. Marriage was started and always has been between a man and a woman and was a way in which to create and bind families. Live with who you want. They simply dont believe nature allows it to be a marriage as they and all of history has defined.

Moral compass? Bullshit. It has everything to do with being a narrow minded bigot; that's the part religion plays. Religion will always trump common sense.

Yes, back in the day, marriage was between a man and woman, and yes, it helped create families. But now, most reasonable people accept that there are other combinations than simply a man + a woman that result in 'families'.
The issue of reproduction science and fertility is a vast and complex topic. If you're suggesting that gay marriage should not be recognised because the gay couple may one day want children you are simply showing off your ignorance.

Btw, nature has nothing, I mean totally nothing to do with allowing marriage. Marriage is a social construct with a good dose of Biblical 'thou shalt not'.

No purpose you could care less if anyone explained it or not.

I saw a pic of your sig line on a billboard in North Carolina.

If I were to ever impregnant you I'd demand that you seek an abortion, or the child be deemed brain-dead at birth.

Preferably the former.
