I usually have an idea of what I'm going to write, and map it out. I let the writing take care of itself though. The problem is when I write, and the idea I want doesn't want to fit with the story that is taking shape, or I run out of ideas sooner than I should. I don't try to force stories, so generally have plenty of ideas jotted down for when I'm ready to write. There are just times where it's apparently not enough ideas to sustain my mood.

i hear ya. one thing i've found out recently, though; i've got to sit down and get on with it, even if i'm not in the mood. in the end, for me, writing is work - don't work, don't get paid.
