Unexplained occurences

Lol I need it. I just can't figure out what is up. My wife says she has felt someone looking over her in the middle of the night. I have heard footstep nUmerous times. It is just creepy here.

You can burn sage and take it through the house. Say this is my home you are no longer welcome here. Your local hippy store should have some. I hope that helps. :)

Someone else mentioned that as well. Something to look into for sure. Just odd to think about even doing that.

Clowns,

It's your home and you deserve some degree of comfort. If burning sage or chanting some holy mantra will give that to you, then do it, odd or not. Sometimes you can't explain certain things away. You might also want to consult your local priest.

Oh and LLD is right. DO NOT fuck around with a ouija board.

Our house was once a funeral home  While there are no records of anyone actually dying here, we have had plenty of ghostly experiences. In the house I grew up in, my mom experienced some of the things you've described. The previous owners of that house were foster parents for terminally ill children, though, so that explains the "hauntings" there. I still get chills down my spine every time something happens, but nothing malevolent has ever happened. As long as it stays that way I'll be okay with it.

It keeps feeling like someone is walking over my grave. I get these weird shivers at times, and it's just out of the blue in a hot room...

I was kidding about the board. I told my wife the next time we experience anything we are just going to ask it to leave. See what happens.

Wow that is crazy. That is like a perfect storm of spiritual craziness. I am glad nothing bad has happened.

Native American Indians believed that certain herbs could help purify and cleanse a space. This was especially important before ritualistic healings or if negative energy could be felt within a space. Today, practicing Pagans, Native Americans, and others still use sage to smudge and purify areas. In combination with visualization, sage can clear and purify your home or other areas that may contain negative energy.

Ok good. Sorry if I came off like a big meanypants. :)

Good idea. Hope it works out well for you.

I'm very open-minded on this kind of stuff. Alas, have never knowingly experienced anything specific although certain places have very warm welcoming atmospheres whereas a house I used to live in was quite the opposite. I was actually scared to walk up the stairs pretty much the whole time I lived there from about the age of 6 through to 18/19. Always fine in any room, but the hallway/staircase, etc was a horrible place to be.

Also, I have friends and family who have had some strange experiences which I believe, but not myself. That said, I'm always amazed by the syncronicity of events in day to day life - e.g. thinking of someone you haven't seen or heard from for years only to bump into them the next day.

But is it all that surprising? The truth is, scientists haven't a clue what half the brain and/or human DNA does (even labels much of our DNA as junk or switched off - that's natural selection for ya ). Also, we can only see/hear within certain frequency ranges. For example some shops bought devices to deter youngsters hanging out Jay & Silent Bob style because it played a whistling that adults can't hear. It's quite possible that things exist in the same space and time as we do, but that which we simply cannot perceive - so is it then possible that our frequencies of perception can change, enabling us to briefly see/hear something that for 99.9% of the time we cannot? It's strange that some ghost-type experiences are actually of people very much still alive

Sorry, that was a monologue (and probably right off topic haha), I'm off back to sleep.

I've not heard of that (sounds interesting as someone who has recently got into meditation). One native american (south moreso I imagine) 'herb' I'd like to try is Ayahuasca - sounds pretty crazy....

My mum was a spiritualist medium, we had loads of strange things going on you won't get me playing with an Ouija board lol

Years ago when I worked in Cali, the biz I worked in was in an old refurbished, beautiful, very large house. Was built in the early 1900s, then eventually I believe in the 40s-50s it turned into an exclusive gentlemans club. I'd heard of a man dying when it was that business in the upstairs bathroom as he was shaving. Okay, moving onto the early 90's and it's now remodeled into a restaurant and various small businesses. So the place I worked was just down the hall from the bathroom. Some mornings I'd be the first one in the entire building. Having to turn all the lights on, going up the sweeping grand staircase alone. Many many times I'd find the bathroom locked and the hot water in the sink on, the room all steamy from it. Other times I'd have certain electronics go on or off in the business. Nothing really ever creeped me out except those mornings opening the place up.

The footsteps were back last night. Running across our hardwood floor hallway upstairs while we were downstairs. It did it 3 times and then a door slammed. Pretty fucking creepy. No harm to us directly just creepy as hell.

Two questions:
1) Is it an old house?
and
2) Are you fucking around or being serious? One can't always tell with IHC! :)

Sounds super creepy...

Once, when I was about 12 I was up late one night reading a book (I did this often and still do) I heard the front door to the apartment building. Thinking it was the upstairs neighbor I went to our apt. door and peeked out. As I looked out I saw the front door open fully and close, heard footsteps come down the hall and stop directly at the door I was standing behind! I ran my ass back to bed and hid under the covers.

The next morning I was still sorta spooked and my upstairs neighbors wife had just come down and as I was preparing to tell her about it she told me! She had been up at the top of the stairs waiting on her husband and saw the exact same thing I had! Now, mind you they were both alcoholics but the top of the stairs curved around and there was no way she could have seen me just sitting there.

One of my 'adopted' grandmothers owned the building and at one time lived in it, in the apt. we lived in. Her husband had been killed there one night as someone broke in and robbed them. My mom said it was probably Grandpa Jim coming home. Suffice it to say I didn't go peeking out doors after midnight anymore!

Hey IHC - It would have helped if I had read the entire thread before posting my question last night, as I did just now. I am so creeped out for you, by proxy, that I am having a hard time falling asleep! Is your wife afraid to sleep in the house by herself? I would be. I think that things happen sometimes with energy that can't be explained. Just because we can't explain it, doesn't mean it didn't happen. So, how old is your house? Keep us posted.

Ha. It is ok. I can understand why you think I might be joking,. That is my tendency around here. Sometimes it gets lost and mixed up with other stuff. THis is very real and quite spooky. I still am not sure I believe any of t but whatever is going on in this house is starting to change my mind.

Wednesday night had something happen that freaked me out bad. My door bell rang & 3 knocks on the door at 2 am BUT no one there & the motion lights had not gone off.

At about 3am last night my wife and I were in bed talking about her gig when we both heard a little boy's voice say "hi mommy and daddy". Since we were alone it freaked us out. This is the first time both of us have experienced something like this together. Usually it is either her or I who hear things and then have to explain to each other what happened.

I have no clue what is going on. Just freaky stuff.

I agree with the crew above of getting some sage & cleaning out the space. But then you know I'm Native American. With my shoulder in the immobilizer this past 2 months I've used the spray sage because I can't handle the movement it take to smudge an area.

If you know of any metaphysical stores in your area you could call & see if there is anyone who knows how to do a house clearing. Calling would make it less of an awkward thing for you since Woo Woo land is new to you. I don't like dealing with the kind of thing you are cause it freaks me out some too. I keep a tight "No Fly" zone where I live. That crap with the door bell the other night pissed me off so I've made sure THAT will not be happening again. It's just not acceptable.

Not to detract from the more serious unexplained occurrences that have been previously described, but sometimes I wake up in the morning and the shirt I went to bed in is off, but I never remember taking it off. I kind of want to believe that it's a very dear, very perverted old friend visiting me, but I know it could be easily explained as me undressing myself in my sleep without realizing it. If that's the case I think it's interesting that I can do that without waking myself up or remembering it. I do a lot of weird things in my sleep actually, so much that I want to video tape myself one of these days.

When my dad was a young, single Marine stationed here in the early 80s, he used to stay in the shop (he was a combat engineer) late at night to do a little extra work. He says on more than one occasion lights would flicker on and off, he heard strange noises and doors would open and close. It was never anything harmful, but it happened enough that he believed that there was something in there with him. He told me once he decided to try and talk to "it" and make a peace offering of some sort. He said something like, "Hey, whoever you are, we can share the building, I won't get in your way." This doesn't surprise me at all because most people here do believe there is a lot of spiritual activity on this island because of all the people who died here in WWII. A few of the gates on these bases have been closed partly because the military personnel frequently reported strange, unexplainable happenings at the gates late at night.

The house my family and I live in now is a fairly new house, we are the first people to live here and when my parents moved in in 2010 it had just been finished. About a year and a half ago in the middle of the night the doorbell rung. It continued to ring until everyone woke up because of it, so my dad went downstairs to check it out. Our house has a video and audio monitor connected to the doorbell so when the doorbell rings we can see who it is on a small monitor inside the house before even going to the front door. He checked the monitor but no one was visible. It still kept ringing so he opened the front door and looked around, he even walked outside and looked up and down the street but no one was around. That's when it finally stopped ringing. I went downstairs to ask him about it but he said no one was anywhere near our house. Trying to rationalize it I said, "Maybe the doorbell is just on the fritz and rang by itself," but he looked at me and said, "In a brand new house?" And he's got a point, by then the house was only about six months old, if that much. I'm not sure if we were "visited", but my family and I do agree it was weird. I even told a friend about it and she got a little spooked but very intrigued because she is a firm believer in the supernatural. She even said there is a possibility that by opening the door we welcomed "it" into our home, that would explain why it didn't stop ringing until my dad opened the door and went outside.

When I was around 12 years old on a school bus on our way to school we broke down right in front of this old run down house that no one lived in to my memory( like no front door, shattered windows) this house is located next to a graveyard ( or was til it was torn down) me and the kid who shared the seat with me were looking at the house. We both commented that the windows were open which was strange the upstairs and downstairs windows at that. As we watched all the windows in the house slammed shut at the same time. That truly freaked us both out, still remember it vividly as if it happened yesterday.

Interesting thread!

I've had premonitions before, well dreams to be exact. From time to time I dream of meeting certain people. A scene plays out, its never how I meet the person but after I meet them a have like a flashback of seeing a certain event happen before and meeting those certain people. Kinda difficult to explain. I've also heard voices before, seeing random shadows out of the corner of my eye. Just random things like that.

Once I was in my room, just waking up, and as I was laying there for a few minutes, suddenly I heard a knock on the door. It was a little girl calling out my name. And then there was a little boys voice telling the little girl to leave me alone because I was tired. I seriously thought it was my nice and nephew so I go and check their rooms and they weren't there, no one was home actually. Im not sure if my mind was just playing some trick on me but those voices were so clear and it felt absolutely real.

I've always believed in the paranormal. I do believe that there are ghosts everywhere around us. Not just ghosts but other super natural beings as well.
Some think its total BS, but once you have some sort of event happen to you, you start thinking very differently.

And as for what's happening around your home, it doesn't seem like they've tried to harm you, at least from the small bits I've read. But just in case you should do something about it before things get serious. They might be ghosts just trying to pass time, scaring humans to get some attention, or they might be just getting started. Im no expert on this, but I wish you the best!
