Eric Clapton

He was a terrible alcoholic for most of his early career. I didn't really know it then. When I go back and see the videos of his performances it was a miracle he could even stand up on stage.

One of my favorites though ~ with Steve Winwood. At this point he was sober, probably 10 years...

It's a great one, Mona. Just bluesy enough...

Listen to "Tears in Heaven," and remember it was written for his late young son

Or Layla...And remember it was written for George Harrisons Ex Wife.
Or was it Claptons Ex wife? I can't remember who married her first

"Layla" was for George's then wife...

I took two song lyrics as poetry courses in college...EASY A, listened to rock music two of the three classes and wrote my opinons on what we listened to :D

Learned a ton of useless shit

And Clapton was pining over her?

*sigh...*
How romantic is that to have some guy write a song for you!

Harrison met Patty when she was 15 on the set for the movie Help! They married when she was 17ish. When Clapton met her years later he fell for her as something he just couldn't have and became obsessed. He wrote lots of songs for her. Layla being probably the most famous. (Layla was an Indian princess in a 1001 Nights type tale ala Romeo and Juliet) But, Bell Bottom Blues
and Wonderful Tonight were also hers after they were married...

Is he the arsehole who wrote songs about drug use.. cocaine.. then wanted sympathy when his toddler fell to its death from a hotel balcony?

Um, yeah. But forget that he had nothing to do with the accident  It was rather bizarre. The apartment (20th something floor) where he lived with his mother had floor to ceiling windows. The maid was cleaning them and had them opened somehow. The kidlet just went from room to room flying like an airplane and literally flew right out. Really sad...

He should have been locked up after the incident.

I thought they met on the set of A Hard Days Night.
