Why is it that government people are afraid of the word “work” ??

Granted I realize that most people enter working in government for the right reasons: long vacations, no responsibility, no accountability, special worker protection, the right to never be fired, fat pension, free healthcare, and a no stress workplace.

However, maybe if people in government started to deal with his or her issues we could start to fix government? The first challenge will be the phobia liberals, socialist, and those in government have with the word “work”

After all, if government people had self confidence and were normal why would they need a special word for “work”?

What makes you think that you have any idea what you're talking about?

Do what now?

Because they're in the service industry.

It's a category of job. "Job" is general "service" is specific.

those in government never refer to working as a job. they try to elevate themselves by calling it "service work" like they are doing something for charity.

just proves my point that those in government lack self esteem and need constant reinforcement

Um... ok.

I know a lot of people who work for the government who call it work. "Service" is literally a word that refers to a specific kind of work. It would be like saying, "I'm going to suergery" or "I'm going to work". One's just more specific.

"Service" is only positively connotative to you. It makes me think of prison. You "serve" time. You "serve" the people as a government employee.

Most government jobs are in the service sector.

Being a worker in a local government agency, I can tell you that I have a huge amount of responsibility and accountability, almost lost my job three times because of budget cuts, have to pay a portion of my healthcare as my colleagues in the nonprofit and private sector do, have an extremely high stress workplace (particularly now), and am extremely confident in what I do. "Civil Service" is the term for government workers because it's people who choose to forgo the massive benefits of working in the private industry to work for people who frequently don't care about how you're working to help them. People complain about the work you do, they complain about the work you don't do, they complain because you can't make it stop raining--and yet, I don't see a single one of those complainers willing to do what I do or attempting to understand.

So, you can take your narrowminded opinion based on shit spewed by idiots for decades and shove it up your ass. Until you're willing to see what it's really all about, your opinion doesn't count as shit.

awesome, with those type of anger issues you do belong in government

Considering how little they get paid for as much work as they do it can only be called a service. You get paid for doing a job.

please under obama the number of government fucktards earning 100k or more has sky rocketed. okay some of that started under Bush but still.

we can't afford all these workers and entitlements. we must terminate 40% of the government workforce

You've never worked a day in your life. You know nothing about it.
