The Sun unleashed a medium-sized solar flare on June 7 which will hit Earth's magnetic field during the late hours of June 8th or June 9th, NASA said late Tuesday.

"The large cloud of particles mushroomed up and fell back down looking as if it covered an area of almost half the solar surface," it said in a statement.

NASA said the coronal mass ejection (CME) should deliver a "glancing blow" to Earth's magnetic field during the late hours of June 8th or June 9th.
 Duck and Cover! On with the sunscreen and protect the internet!

I wouldn't call an ejection whose mass covered half the surface of the visible side medium-sized. Half of one side of the sun equals one quarter of the sun.

Holy Shit! Half the sun, that's a Huge Solar flare!

Must be Solar Warming?

remember to turn off your receivers; all of them.
last time this happened, there was chaos with radios, TV, phones, etc..

Saw the same newscast from NASA , did some surfing...not a serious event.

Which is not to say that Coronal Mass Ejections are not a worrisome thing, they are, but this one is not.

The next one might be.

Ain't it wunnerful, all this fucking knowledge we have acquired?

sighs...
