Is anyone else a board game addict?
I just read this article at The Atlantic about Settlers of Catan. Has anyone played this? Is it as awesome as it sounds?
And where does it fit in the board game hierarchy?
Scrabble:* Nerdy, but socially acceptable for adults to play
Risk: Nerdy, not socially acceptable outside of nerd conventions or long-lasting family feuds (not that there's anything wrong with those, of course
)
Parcheesi: Not nerdy, socially acceptable in limited circles
Sorry: Not nerdy, not socially acceptable, and rather dull.
Feel free to quibble with my list, or add your favorites.
*I realize that traditionally Scrabble wasn't played on a board, but I'm calling it a board game.
