The Earth Day 2011 Contest Support Thread

Well, mine won't be posted today. Been battling stomach bugs and headaches for the past week. I WILL get it done. Just disappointed it's not at least out being edited. *pout* Me thinks the tricksy folk abound.

Goodluck everyone!

Hope you feel better -- I hate when stuff like that gets in the way. Good luck.

I have to admit, contests are fun.

It's fun creating and writing the stories, it's fun reading the feedback, and it's fun watching the scores to up and down.

Where else can we have this kind of fun for free?

I don't remember seeing so many stories the first day. I figured Earth Day would be a difficult contest to come up with stories, but after reading a selection of stories, there are so good ones posted already.

I enjoyed your stories, DG and Tx. I didn't leave comments for obvious reasons.

Judging by the first day submissions, this could be a record for stories. It would be nice to see 200 stories, instead of the usual 100 stories.

Fun is what it's all supposed to be about. Thanks for the compliment on my story. You could have left a comment. i don't bite nearly as bad as i bark. ;)

I didn't leave a comment out of courtesy for fear that the bashers who follow me around may bash your story, too.

I was a reader before I became a writer and I appreciate a well written story, as anyone else. That's what it's all about, readin' and writin'.

Good luck to you in the contest. Maybe #10 is your lucky number (lol).

Wow, I'm surprised how many stories are up already. Looks like we'll get a good run! I'm happy right now because something experimental is going well for me, so that's new. I'll plug now, so if anyone wants to give mine a read, it's here: http://www.literotica.com/s/the-four-seasons Still no comments, but it seems like I've only ever had one story that made a lot of people comment, so I'm not super shocked.

My personal troll and his alts finally made it to Lit this morning I see.

do you have any integrity at all???

Only the darkboy would produce such sloppy amateurish work to try to befuddle the poor innocent AHers who looked at it.

What do these graphs purport to show my young mathematically challenged friend. What have you graphed here? And what was your methodology?

Do you have the balls to tell us? Remember my dear cut-and-paste boy, that, once you’ve explained these schoolboy diagrams, we’ll be able to determine their veracity.

I DARE YOU!

The balls in your court - if you have any!

That should be "ball's."

I don't really understand what the diagrams represent or how they apply to Scouries. But then I don't understand what discussion of them has to do with this thread either. So, there you go.

Good luck in the contest everyone.

I have one story with several comments and some PMs. The other has no comments so far. Guess which one is in the incest category ;)

I am very gratified to get the feedback. That's what I really seek in the contest. In that respect, I have already won :)

I've spent the morning reading most of the entries so far. I think the competition is tough. I have already given several 5 start votes to my rivals. Good luck everyone.

It does look like a lot of people got a jump on the contest. Including me, for a change. :D

Good luck, LM, and I'll take a look and leave a comment, promise.

My story went up last night and I'm really proud to have gotten the guts to post something, no matter how it does. :) Anyone that posts something to a test like this deserves a pat on the back for have the cojones to do so. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. :D

I'm really looking forward to reading some of the other submissions!!

The first two days after posting a new story is the fun time. After that it really drops off. It's surprising to see so many reads and votes on a Monday yet. Going to be a fun roller coaster ride.
Best of luck to all that enters. We have a great start.
DG
:D

Thanks TX and PennLady! I can't wait to read the entries and finish mine when my head stops the pounding.

I highly recommend caffeine for the headache. Works for me -- I usually chase a migraine with some migraine meds and 1-2 diet cokes. :)

I have a question for some of the Lit. authors that have done this contest entry thing before. When someon posts a comment to your story and it is incredibly nice, can you post back and thank them there. Or is it better to do that sort of thing by PM?

I ask because some sweet person posted anonymously to my story and it was really, really great. I'd like to say thanks, but since it was anonymous I can't pm them anything.

You can always add a comment to your own comment board thanking them, though you'll never know if they'll see it.

I usually respond on the comment board and hope they come back. Thanks for your comment, by the way, Bestroika! I was actually thinking about doing a Choose-Your-Own Erotica, but wasn't sure how feasible it'd be with Literotica's page system and all, unless I really plan out my words.

You're so welcome! I loved it, I was always a huge fan of the choice branching books when I was younger. :) Your story reminded me of that, so thank you for that!!

If someone leaves me a comment with a name, I always send a thank you note via their profile if possible, and provide my email for a response. I just found, however, as I was trying to do some, that if you do too many too quickly, it logs you as possible spam. Sigh.

So, Bestroika -- thank you so much for your comment. And bruce22.

Yep, you've got to space them out a bit. I tend to watch mine very closely when they first post, for exactly that reason.

If you happen to be awake and have the time, keeping up with the initial burst as they appear helps prevent triggering the spam trap. After the first day, you shouldn't have any trouble keeping up with the rest that come in whenever you have some time.

The baby is asleep and I have two stories out being edited (one of them my earth day story... fingers crossed for a Thursday return). Time to start reading!

Out of curiosity, how quick is the turnaround for posting in the contests? I seem to recall reading that it is far less than the usual three days.

Related to that, is it true that Sunday is the kiss of death? Or is this, too, an AH urban legend?
