The Earth Day 2011 Contest Support Thread

One more time for a clean page.

Both of mine are moving along, the delays for lack of quiet time rather than fighting the prose, finally.

For anyone discouraged by the two obvious thread-crappers and their alts, the ignore list is your friend. Unfortunately, this forum section is unmoderated, and they're allowed to run free, writing with their big pre-school crayons at will.

Slap them and their alts on ignore as they appear, and the whole forum becomes a much more pleasant place to be.

Questions about the contest or anything else will still get answered, because there are plenty of people reading between the heaps of garbage.

The contest starts on the 28th, so the starting gun isn't far away.

Mine, of course, returns to the Wood series, which I've been doing for years now as an Earth Day tradition. This time out, the spotlight is on Glen, Kia's ( Forever of the Wood ) son, and Mara's ( Kindred of the Wood ) brother.

There are plenty of ways to go green in life, but it doesn't stop there.

I kind of like that *laugh* That might very well get modified into the tagline for this one.

A line born of nymph blood, charged with protecting the remaining pockets of nature, and the family secret, but they all have their own lives and loves to discover as well.

The other one will have to remain secret, since it's in my third pen name. The title and tagline is what inspired this one ( as well as an old hobby that I wish I had time to continue )

Looking at a story for a possible LST3K as well. Don't know if I'll find the hook in time to put it in the contest, though. It might get shelved until next year if I get a roll going and can't finish it in time. I haven't done more than read through it and mentally file away a couple of obvious jokes, though. I haven't even converted it out of the original text format into a working document yet.

Back to the Chrono Cross soundtrack and Heart of the Wood :D

Wow. I go to work and craziness happens! :)

Bestroika - Welcome. Your story will do great. I try to read as many stories as possible for contests. I'll make sure to read your story.

My story is a sci-fi story which is a tongue in cheek commentary on what's "supposed" to happen when the world almost ends :)

Erin

PrincessErin, thank you ever so much for the warm and generous welcome. :) I especially thank you for the vote of confidence, we'll see how it goes once it hits online. *laughs* I will be sure to read your as well, and good luck to you.

Newbies my ass!

I remember the first time I discovered Literotica. I read stories here. I knew it was as much a reading site, as it was a writing site, but I didn't know about all the other stuff that it offered, such as forum boards. It took me a while to figure all what was avaiilable.

Yet, I watch these newbies, who just happen along, as if they've been here forever. Already, they're making dozens and hundreds of posts very quickly, making false judgments about everyone, and already having a litany of friends, as if they've had them for a long time.

Gees, maybe some of these newbies aren't newbies at all but, gadzooks, maybe, instead they are (gulp) alts. Wow, I never even thought of that, not really, kind of, not a all. Who would have guessed? Seriously. Can it really be?

I wish Literotica would only allow every IP address one identity. I'd be happy to get rid of all my other alts. I'd be happy to combine all my stories together. It wouldn't bother me in the least, but I betcha it would horrify some of these other posers and pretenders. I betcha they wouldn't like being exposed like that, one bit.

They couldn't play their games anymore. They couldn't continue with all the shit that they do. They couldn't argue between themselves anymore. They'd have to be out in the open with the rest of us and be held accountable for all the mean stuff they write and all the crap they pull.

Hey, I don't have to name names. Writers, as are comics, are a very intelligent breed. I don't have to point out the offenders for the others to know who the are. We all know. Only, while I know that so many others are thinking the same things that I write, I wish some of you would have the backbone to speak up, instead of having me take all the fire for you.

Still, it doesn't matter. I'm not here to make friends. I'm not here to win contests. I'm not here to fill my pages with inflated scores and phony red H's. I'm here to write stories. My passion is writing and not all this other bullshit.

You can hate me, but you have to respect me. The respect comes with my love of writing and all the nearly 900 stories and more than 6 million words, I've already posted here.

I don't care what you all think of me. Think of me, as you would think of yourselves. I'm a writer, just like you. After you all spin around in your false pretenses, my stories will remain.

How does the ignore feature work, again? I'm a bit new to the forum.

The fast way is to left click on the person's name above their AV, then choose Add to your Ignore List.

Otherwise, or to edit your Ignore List: Go to User CP, usually top left, click on it and scroll down to Buddy/Ignore lists. Add a name to the Ignore list.

That person's posts disappear from threads except for a message saying "This person is on your ignore list" and any threads started by that person don't appear at all.

Putting a few people on Ignore can improve your experience of the Authors' Hangout.

Duh, Ogg?!

As if these, so called, newbies don't know how to put someone on ignore. '

He or she, just wrote that to get a reaction. They thought they were being funny, but jumping on the bandwagon against BFW.

When, in actually, they are just another alt of one of the regular AHer's.

I have some swamp land, I mean, ocean front property in Florida, Ogg, if you're interested.

SO! Earth Day, what a day, huh? It generally seems to be considered the hardest theme to write for. Anyone brave enough to reveal what sort of subjects they ended up writing about?

I'll wait for next week before revealing too many details, I like a good surprise, but I went the fantasy route myself. Mechanically, I've also written my first branching story, so we'll see what happens...

Writers get too wired up with Al Gore and his polar bear. Just a love of nature and a bit of flesh.

Try this;

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Wordsworth - not allowed as an Earth Day entry as it's poetry not prose.

No thanks. I already live in a sea front property but well above sea and swamp level (unless a Japanese-sized tsumani hits).

Og

Thanks Og. Pass the word around. Maybe you know someone. I'll be glad to give you a finders fee, so long as you take it Japanese currency.

I see your point, but I don't put people on ignore. If you believe in free speech they're entitled to their rant and we can just scroll through.

Not to say I don't agree with drk's groan that the fun of this support thread is damaged by the inanities of the two neanderthals.

Wow...

Could someone explain why this area isn't moderated?

Cause..wow.

I turned in a story for this whole Earth Day contest, we shall see how it goes. :)

Good luck. I'll make sure to read it - why not post a link in Story Feedback when it's up?

To answer your question, moderation implies censorship, which the owners find incompatible with their beliefs (as do I). We must accept annoying drivel as we accept junk mail - bin it as quickly as possible. However much Laurel & Manu would prefer not to have the two lunatics polluting threads like this, they put their belief in freedom of expression above the temporary irritations that these 2 clowns cause. I'm on their side. Do you want more restrictions on erotica?

No, I don't want restrictions on erotica but restrictions on stupidity sound excellent to me. I know, I know, eye of the beholder and all that. LOL

I will post that link when my story goes up. It has been days though and still pending, I am attempting to be patient.

So, even though I've written nearly 900 stories and 100 poems, more than 6 million words that have amassed more than 30 million reads, I'm not allowed to post my opinion on the AH thread, without being called names.

Why is that?

Is it because I write the truth? Is it because I challenge things and contests that are unfair?

Well, too fucking bad.

Moreover, I'd rather read much of the stuff that Scouries writes than wade through all the drivel written by so many sock puppets.

I you want to do something to clean up this site, make a rule where each user has one identity. I'm all for that.

Moreover, if you don't have a story attached to your identity, you can't post here, period. I'd like to see that rule in place, too.

This place is a nut house not because of me or Scouries but because there are people with dozens of identities roaming around writing whatever they want.

How dare they ask about this thread being moderated, when they are the ones that should be banned from the site.

By writing all the stories I've written for free, I've help promote this site more than all you bunch of assholes put together.

Let's talk about the contest and editing

I hate to possibly feed a troll, but why do emotions seem to be so high here? Can't we all be civil to each other? If we were all at a neighborhood block party, we could all have a good time without deliberately irritating each other - right?

Let's talk about the contest. I am excited! I have two stories being edited by Eviant and may have a third soon. She provides insight and has been a fantastic collaborator. Don't swamp her until she's done with my entires though ;)

Last year's Halloween contest was my first and only previous attempt. I enjoyed it in part because I got the best feedback from readers. The contest is worth it just for the extra feedback. I write to scratch my own creative itch, but there is less point to this particular form of expression without an audience. Somewhere in my mind, I equate feedback with "the audience" more than views or ratings. That might be a silly coping mechanism, but it works for me ;)

Good luck everyone. I will enjoy reading your entries. If one or three or all of you beat my entries, I win too. At least I get to read some great erotica. ...but look out. I think _this_ is my year ;)

I've been working with Eviant some also, she is awesome. :) But Eviant has been editing something I have in mind for later, the contest story I wrote I thought was good enough off the cuff and thought what the hell. :) I wish you good luck MarlowBunny and lots of excellent reader input. :)

Now, about the troll thing. I just do not have a high tolerance for stupidity, so at a block party I would avoid said individuals, but kinda hard to do here so instead, I ignore. :)

Feed a troll?

Listen fuck face, sock fucking puppet. When you write as many fucking stories as I've written is when you can even refer to me in a post, you fucking cocksucker.

This is my 5th year here and I haven't even posted on these board 3,000 times and I'm called a lunatic and a troll.

Go fuck yourself.

When all the rest of these assholes who post here have tens of fucking thousands of posts, I'm the one clogging up the site.

Well, fuck you and your fucking whore of a mother.

Ah, there, I feel better now.

Now, we can resume talking about the Earth Day contest, which by the way, I'll be posting more stories than most of you morons put together.

Fuck wad!

Look at this guy. He joined yesterday and he already has more than 100 posts.

Yet, he doesn't clog that site, I do.

By the end of the month, he'll or she'll have 1,000 posts and by the end of they year, 30,000 posts.

Fucking morons.

People are entitled to rant, but I don't need to read it. I'm all for free speech but that doesn't mean I need to listen to all of it. Besides I can always un-ignore. De-ignore. Whatever.

I just wish I could one day write a story that received 1000 honest votes. And I encourage all LITEROTICANS to visit the MOST VOTES RECEIVED thread. Bravo jim!!!
