Woohoo! Just the man of the hour...Jodeci...what the hell happened to him anyways?
(Goes to show I don't keep track of the RnB/HipHop world.)
Thanks man!
Very good sir.![]()
Giving this a go:
Free and Easy, Take IV
whispers spar in the presence
of leaves that willow.
time shuffles from day to day,
days coincide to mere whimpers.
my thoughts always return
to the heart of the matter.
if not today, then tomorrow
if yesterday, why not the day before?

Yesterday they were socks, now they're sex on a stick cotton awesomeness..........
*pulls up candy cane ankle socks*
Are these that hot too?
Wow, so very relevant today! IDK if it's just NY or if the young unwed mother phenomena is nation-wide, but the poem nails it SD!!! Amazing job! Standing O!
SD, I read this before working out last night. I couldn't forget it. So much emotion. Thanks for continually honoring this thread.
Challenges abound, how does one be all they can be to all. Let me know the Secret BMF!!!
Hey thanks - I appreciate your beautiful pictures on yours. :Rose:
Well thank you!
I should be updating soon-- fell behind a bit on that thread
(sorry BMF I hijacked a bitForgive me? *batts eyelashes*)
And If I say no?![]()
For real, you're welcome to post anytime.
My father was in the USMC and I wrote this when I was about 13, or 14...there were times when my father worked a 2nd job to be able to provide for us...and as such the "father-daughter" time was non existant.
Tomorrow night he'll play with me,
that's what the young girl said
As she slowly climbed the lonely stairs
and put herself to bed.
I know my daddy loves me
she kept saying in her head
He's such a very busy man
and he must work instead.
But somehow deep inside
she knew that it was true
that tomorrow wouldn't come
for the next day's busy too.
Still weeks pass by
and turn to years
The little girl is waiting
although it is with tears
The little girl has grown
and she has teenage fears
Oh why won't daddy talk with me
but this is all she hears
I'll talk with you tomorrow night
I'm awfully busy right now
I really want to talk to you
but can't find the time somehow
And so she climbs the stairs
Her tender heart so crushed
by all the years she was put off
by a daddy always rushed.
*slips in quietly after hours*
That’s me…over there…
The one in the corner
On the back row.
No…don’t look.
I won’t look back.
Eyes downcast.
I just like to sit
And listen.
Let the words flow over
Enter my mind
And float around awhile.
They all strike chords.
Memories, you know.
But I’ll just be quiet
My words whispered
Quietly, softly.
I smile, but to myself.
Not a lot of people.
Just enough actually
To hide behind.
I was once there…
Where you are now.
It was nice for awhile.
Now it’s just easier,
Safer, you understand.
In the corner
On the back row.
I love this poem SD! It is both sad and sweet. It touched a nerve for me when I read it for I too have been through this, not just with my Father, but with my Mother too. Still, all is right in my world now, just like how yours has turned out too, I'm sure.![]()
