Men may indeed, generally speaking, have an uncontrollable urge to take over, but I think the categorization of porn has less to do with male aggression than the prevailing male queasiness over seeing men doing each other. The porn industry has always lumped "hot girl-on-girl action" in with straight porn (since the vast majority of porn consumers have always been straight men who either really dig or at least don't object to seeing women together), while carefully quarantining male gay porn (lest many of those straight men throw up in their mouths and flee the magazine rack/video store/website without buying or renting anything). That's what I've always assumed, anyway, to the extent that I've given it much thought as I've indiscriminately ogled whatever configuration of genitalia happened to be on the screen--the truth is probably not quite so simple.
