My question is how many people out here attend Munch's and what are some protocals? curious I have attended 2 and wondering other peoples thoughts on them

There shouldn't be much protocol at a munch, since they are usually held in vanilla spaces. But you know-- Someone is going to introduce themself as Mistress Lisa and her slave Rick or Master Rick and his sub Lisa... so you shake hands impartially, and grab the menu and order your food.

:D

Other than that, you join in conversations if they interest you, flirt with the uncollared (observing the normal vanilla rules for flirting) and accept the invite to the next demo.

How does one pluralize a word correctly in the thread title and then do so INcorrectly ten words into the post?

Pretty much this for me too, except I've been lucky enough to not be introduced to anyone by title.

Only been to one munch...its interesting...and for me had lots of people willing to answer questions though keep in mind...public place..lol
So joined a private group that will allow for more indetail inquiries and room for experimenting and play.
:)

Exactly my experience except no one has ever introduced themselves as Master or slave anything at any munches I've been too.

The first and really the last munch I went to, my sponsor couldn't make it at the last minute. I'd never been to a munch, never seen any of those people before, and they had never seen me before.

They all looked at me like I was some undercover narc, or some anti-kink vanilla guy looking to out them all, so not a single person said a word to me. I stayed longer than I wanted to, hoping my sponser would eventually show up and make everything right, but she never did. That group was (and still is) the most stuck up group of people I've ever encountered.

They were good at giving the cold shoulder to outsiders, very good at jumping to conclusions and also quite good at fighting amongst themselves over very trivial things. But, it was the oldest and largest kink group in my city. It would be even larger, if they weren't constantly fighting with members leaving in a huff. There are regulars who have stuck around for years, but new members? I don't think they have many.

In their defense, that was back when Fred Phelps was showing up at munches really hot and heavy, and picketing the restaurants. He was against lesbians and gays, and kinky people in general. It was a difficult time. People looked at all strangers as possible Phelps snitches, because he was somehow able to find out when and where munches were held.

I never went to another munch for that group. I did go to one of their play parties. It was very rare in that it was sponsored by that group and their rival group. I actually had a good time at that party, but I could tell who were members of the large kink group, because they kept to themselves. I'd been to small parties with members of the other group, though, so I hung out with them. Strangely enough, the rival group no longer exists and the stuck up group still does.

Anyway, most munches should be really friendly and open. If they aren't, don't go back.

Seriously! I'm so sorry that happened to you DVS. I didn't have a sponsor. I went by myself and it was all fine.

Munches should be open and friendly that's the whole point. There is, as far as I can tell, absolutely no reason to have a munch of people who don't talk to strangers. WTF?!?

Speaking of WTF???? DV who? I hope I'm at least a blue ray version.

And, I don't think you had Fred Phelps and his family lurking the area when you went, and you were female, too. It might not seem so, but it does make a difference. Women are easier to approach...especially pyl types.

And this was years and years ago. Fred was a young man still honing his style.

I've never heard of having a "sponser" to go to a munch. Weird.

Times were different back then. It was kind of like a speak easy. You couldn't just show up. Actually, for fear of the venue being picketed by Fred, they didn't post where the munches were held unless you were "in the know". Restaurants were taking a gamble by allowing munches to be held there. Now that Phelps has moved on to the national scene, I think most kink group munches are held at a regular place. But that one group is still pretty stuck up.

Dude. I'm so sorry. I meant DVS. I'm so fucked up right now in the head and body. I'm screwing up left and right lately. I rarely screw up ever. Please forgive me.

Persecuted groups show the solidarity they were forced to learn-- long after the persecution has ended. Better to be "stuck up" than frightened...

At my munches, EVERYONE was master/slave something.

Usually "something" was a made up name too.
