NaNoWriMo 2010, Fun and Flirty!

I'm in for NaNo but I don't think I'll be writing erotica. Then again, we'll see where my mind takes me. Good luck everyone!

Hi Guys!!

This will be my 7th year doing NanoWrimo. I started it in 2003 and I haven't stopped since.

Thing is, I'm not doing Erotic stuff this year, okay, so I'm doing a 'little' erotica, but I'm going to be more concentrating on getting my 2 vampires and my human to do what I want them to do.. which is find the psychotic poser who is creating chaos for both vampire kind and human kind.

:D The title you ask?

Requiem of Darkness

When a single touch could lead to death.

I hope it got uploaded in a file attachment.. I dunno.. someone let me know if it shows.

I'll be doing NaNo again, I've done it for years though the last 3 I haven't won, though the stories I've written in those 3 years have all been published.

I'll be working on 2 stories, one new one for my Point Vamp Series, The conclusing to my Getting There series and the Conclusion to my Rendezvous series. As you can guess, I need a good kick up the backside to get these things done hence I'm going to use NaNo as that kick!

I haven't logged into the site yet, must do that soon.

And that, M'lady, is the fun of NanoWrimo. You have either a finished Manuscript, or a WIP that you can continue working on after the event has ended. :D

I've had two published out of 6 years of doing Nano. Shadow Demon was the first, Beltane Fire came 3 years later. I'm hoping to win this one with a 75K Vampire novel so I can possibly get it into the hands of a paperback publisher.

Until that time, I just finished a F/F short novella called Egyptian Moon, plus I have Wassail Woes and Toymaker out there. Shadow Demon is going on the 'Retired' listing after it finishes it's final run at the end of the month.

Hope to see you online over at NanoWrimo English Lady. I'm over there as Diane38

Actually, I came here from the NaNo forums

Seeing the Literotica thread there reminded me I'd always intended to write some stuff for here. So here I am.

I write fantasy rather than straight erotica, but my characters do seem to always end up being such sexual beings ... like last year's, in which the oddball lovers that were intended to take a while to fall into bed ended up doing it inside six chapters.

Oddball, in this case, means one was a 42 year old undead female soldier and the other, an impossibly old female "crafted-person" (think robot, but in a magical/fantasy sense) with no eyes but impossibly acute hearing and ability to sense heat. Both of which abilities having erotic possibilities, of course.

I think I'm doing another one with them this year.

Very cool. And welcome to the AH. :)

Welcome everyone who has posted on this thread so far! Good Luck to everyone and I hope to hear how you are doing with your novels Come November! (Erotic or Not)

I know I will be. I find the best way to keep motivated during November is to talk to a lot of people about what I'm going on and listen to other peoples' triumphs and struggles as well.

Right, I'm all logged in at NaNo now as Victoria Blisse

I must be mad, but I'm hoping to write 3 shorts in the time at around 15k each so hopefully I'll manage a little extra on each and bingo, I'll hit the 50k.

Well, I can hope, right?

A little over a week and the typing begins. Time for a bump. :)

I'm off to a NaNo party this afternoon. My region is quite active, with weekly write-ins, an all-day write-in, challenges against other regions, and more.

Hopefully at this point everyone is enthusiastic and eager to start.

:)

I'm throwing my hat into the ring for the first time this year. My first novel (second draft completed yesterday) has been a 7 year WIP... so I'm looking forward to getting something together in a 30 day time-frame!

So, are we all ready and raring to go?

I have to confess I'm not really. I don't have the enthusiasn for it I had years ago. I think it's 'cos I've not 'won' these past 3 years. I'm going to work hard though. If I can get these 3 stories done in November it'll mean I don't have to work my arse off in December and January!

Over thirty people attended our NaNo party this afternoon. We mingled and chatted and laughed and filled up on pizza and burritoes. Everyone went home with an official NaNo raffle prize, including posters, mugs, and books. Tuesday night is the first write-in and I'm looking forward to that.

How much "preparation is allowable?

I've got one story plotted and ~ 1/4 written, that will probably be 110K words, so 50K or more is left.

I've got another story, that is just being plotted, but about half written, should be about 70K more words?

I've got my 2008 Nano project, that is still unfinished, I need to rewrite the last two chapters and end it so I can write the second installment where Cletus goes to Atlantis. Could be 100K words.

Or, I could start something completely different?

I'm going 2 for 1. 50K Erotica, and 50K straight non-fiction. Last year 1 managed 80K words in one story. 100K may be a little ambitious, but I've done all my prep work for both efforts - backgrounds, character sketches, research, so I should be able to hit the ground running!

Good luck to all.

Ooo... what is that, 3K a day for 30 days? It's doable... I may do that. Two 50K novels in a month.

A friend of mine showed me the site maybe a week ago. I let him talk me into doing it but I haven't planned/outlined anything so far. I've got a couple smaller projects and a large project I'm in the middle and I'd really hate to take a month long break, so I'll find out soon wether I'll go through with it or not.

As long as you follow the simple guideline of "Write. Don't edit." When I go back and edit what I'm working on, the daily output goes down the crapper.

For some reason this year I'm just itching to get started. I can hardly wait.

JackLuis I think technically it is meant to be something new but I think as long as what you're writing is all new words -go for it. As long as you don't count what's alwready written i can't see the problem myself!

That's the way I'm going to look at it. I reread my story from last year and found it better than I remembered. I want to finish it into a novel and I think another 50k might do the trick.

Now if i can just find a lesbian that doesn't mind reading male writing on the subject to give me a hint if I'm even close.

Sounds like a good idea to me, love!

That is what I'm thinking. Unfortunately, yesterday I started to come down with a cold, and I fear it will effect my ability to concentrate, or stay awake.

Still I can do 50k in a month.
