Anyone for a nightcap?

Slowly sipping Wild Turkey Honey Whiskey.

I have the cold from Hell, and I'm telling myself it's medicinal. Pretty good stuff really, and I'm not a whiskey drinker at all.

*blushes from the warm glow all over*
;)

Ha, I'm recovering from the cold from hell. Invented a new cocktail tonight, the "Benatini".

2 teaspoons of extra strength Benadryl, followed by a gin martini. :D

Feel better soon, GS. :rose:

Funny, I call mine a NyqWine. (I've been sick all week, too.)

Finishing a bottle of Bonterra Cabernet Sauvignon (made from organic grapes, too).

And I'm healthy - at least in some bodily respects.

But ought to blurt, perhaps, maybe.

The question really should be what haven't I had tonight. I discovered a wine bar here that had a taste testing tonight, so yum. Everything was good except the shiraz. It was still a little too oaky for me.

The place is a keeper, even if it is pricey!

Got a fresh box of Big House White before supper last night. I think there may be a couple glasses of it left.

Gnarly Head. The cabernet, folks, the cabernet.

For a second I was worried you'd managed to figure out auto-falatio. ;)

As horrible as this is going to sound, I was stuck with milk & cake tonight for a bedtime snack... because I forgot to grab a bottle of wine when I was at the store earlier.

The HORROR!

Side note - I keep thinking of things to start threads about or responses to add to current threads, and losing patience with even bothering before I can get a post half written.

Loss of patience can be a sign of a depleted gnarly head account.

For tonight: a bottle of Castle Rock pinot noir (Mendocino County) from Costco at a whopping $8.99. My inner snob took it on the chin but won't complain. Also from Costco, for tomorrow: Francis Coppola Claret ($11.99). Ever since I found Costco's house brand merlot show up on Wine Enthusiast's List of the top 100 best buys I've been looking around the wine selection at Costco. Some of the prices are just too good to pass up.

And now, for my foodie friends: 60 Facts About Alton Brown. This may remind you of all those lists of Chuck Norris's supposed feats.

Henry of Pelham Cuvee Catherine Brut Rose - a sparkling rose that looks so pretty in a trumpet glass. oh tasty too.

Wild Turkey Honey is GREAT for a cold....or just to keep you warm inside...

Gnarly Head Cabernet Sauvignon. It's quite good but I think I'd buy a bottle every now and again just for the name even if it was barely better than Annie Green Springs.

Lacheteau Les Loges Vouvray 2007 and I'm so wishing I'd opened it Monday night. Had my exam last night for my wine course and there was a question on Vouvray and I'm going ....Vouvray??????

A very nice Chenin Blanc from Loire, France.

I found something I'm totally evangelical over

2007 Perrin et fils Cotes Du Rhone Villages - it's weird and wicked and has a lingering pencil shavings kind of note which sounds awful and isn't.

Since then I've been going for cheap, cook and drink the same bottle: the little penguin

Both Little Penquins carried here have been discountinued and are on sale. I know wines are cheaper in the US, so hope that's not why you're getting a deal on yours.

And I'm a believer in not cooking with a wine that I wouldn't drink...so cooking and drinking the same bottle is the norm here,

No!

I don't think so. This is a mega bottle of the - cab? I think?

Sorry I didn't complete the search. Of 6 Little Penguins our provincial liquor control board sells, two have been discontinued. The Cab Merlot and the Chardonnay Riesling. The Merlot (in small and large bottles) are still ok, as are the Shiraz and Chardonnay.

Hoping you're drinking the Merlot.

It's a jumbo cab/shiraz.
