I'm enjoying some of the Knob Creek bourbon that I splurged on last month. Neat, if only for lack of ice.
Neat is the only way.
Hey, I had ice in my Vouvray earlier. Couldn't be bothered to wait for it to chill in the fridge. But I'm weird like that.
*wonders who Santa is to talk, looking the way he does*
Neat is the only way.
Neat is a good way, but it's certainly not the only way. It really depends on the whiskey. And my mood.
Neat or nothing, in my book. Anything else and you're just drinking whiskey-flavored water or soft drink. As for "it depends" the answer to that is to avoid drinking anything that cannot be savored neat like you would avoid serving a Twue Dominate.

Just found a bottle of Dynamite cabernet sauvignon marked down from $22 to $13 so that's on the menu tonight to accompany linguini bolognese.
@WW, were you able to re-cork the VC or do you have one of those vacu-vin thingies?
Speaking of gadgets, my favorite thingie from Santa this year was a Vinturi.
I have a special champagne stopper.
I see Santa has good taste. You'll love it Yank. Makes a real difference.
I do love it already. The difference is really noticeable, even if a bottle has been open for a little while, but especially right after opening. I love the little whistling sound it makes, too. The Vinturi makes Black Box cabernet taste like a $15 bottle.
I don't know the quality of Black Box wine but assume the aerator makes it taste better. Have you tried it with white wine yet? They sell a separate one for white wine but my guess is that yours will work fine with white too.
I have not tried it on white. Lately we've been using crisp and relatively inexpensive whites as an opening act for the evening. Deep flavor isn't front of mind with these, but it would be worth a try.
Calvados...
A French Apple a/o Pear Brandy.
Sips better than ANY brown liquor known to man.
I can't believe no one has been drinking a nightcap in almost a month.
I'm sipping a little 2007 Lapostolle Casa Merlot (poured through my Vinturi aerator Yank). Nice and smooth.
I'm way behind in my reporting, I guess. Next time you do a vino run, look for the L'Apostole Cuvée Alexandre. It's remarkably better than their Casa level wines.
I hope that's remarkably better. It's twice the price, at $35 here! Truthfully I was drinking wine that I'd bought quite a while ago.
