Anyone for a nightcap?

Champagne for me.

I'm celebrating the harvest moon, and the return of 30 Rock, which apparently was new last night, but I missed, whether or not it was new. Damn.

M.Y.! Avatar of the Month, bud!!

HOO-RAH!!
:nana:

(and seconded! :D )

Oh yeah, my nightcap is my one-and-only,

Rex

Rex Goliath chardonnay to start and then a tasty Chilean cabernet - sorry, forgot the name already.

Thanks for the kudos on the av. Couldn't resist. Must have been witchcraft.

So proud of myself! I found a red wine I actually like, some sort of zinfendel, though I don't remember the name. Must remember to look at the bottle at my friend's house tomorrow.

Yes, please share. I've gotten several good suggestions from this thread and would enjoy a good zin soon.

Been drinking Blueberry ale for the last hour and already have a really good buzz going. Not sure what to top it off with.

It was a 2008 Cline Zinfandel from California. Very tasty, and not so expensive.

Cline makes good stuff. You should try their Red Truck label - it's quite inexpensive (under or about $10) and the pinot noir is especially good.

Chateau St. Michelle Riesling...in an Ikea juice tumbler with orange daisies. It's probably one of my favorite under $10 wines.

Will report back in when (if?) I'm sober again. Just found a store that sells Big House White by the 3-liter box.

:D :D

You sober yet Yank? ;)

I'm drinking a very smooth 2007 sauvignon blanc from Lords winery in South Africa.

Mostly. :D

Your Lords sounds tasty.

Presently sipping a glass from the giganto box of Big House White. I think we're about halfway through the three-liter box. This afternoon I picked up a brother to one of Wine Enthusiast's 100 Best Buys: a Kirkland Meritage (yes, the Costco house brand). Will be drinking it with homemade pizza tonight.

Downing the last glass of the roommate's homemade white sangria... for an interesting week or two I was dating a guy who owned a vineyard, but [unfortunately] he went creepy on me. LOL

Aren't you afraid of the secret Muslim push to impose sangria law on us?

You can't get the Big House White here, only the Red for some reason.

I saw that...of course Costco doesn't sell wine here in the true north. :( Would love to hear if you agree with Wine Enthusiast's best buy for your Kirkland.

Owned a vineyard? Did he last long enough to find out what kind of wine he made?

Lots. :)

Actually, he was quite focused on recreating the root stock varieties of some c19 Texas viticulturist who apparently saved the French wine industry around the turn of the century - something about some particular insect born disease and this viticulturist grafted/hybridized tolerant varieties or something. Our first date was a tasting a lecture of 4 wines from his vineyard that were being produced for the first time in 120 years.

Pity he had A) no sense of healthy boundaries and B) kept suggesting he would only pretend to fight me off "a little" if I happened to be overcome with lust and attack him.

Ew.

Ew.

How interesting...the wine part.

You wanted him to pretend to fight you off 'a lot'? :D
