I never thought this would happen.

Karl Rove sounded a depressing tone for Republicans late Tuesday night, warning that surprise Delaware GOP Senate nominee Christine O’Donnell has said “nutty things” and has ruined the party’s chances of winning the seat.

“I’ve met her. I wasn’t frankly impressed by her abilities as a candidate,” Rove said during an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity. “One thing that O’Donnell is now going to have to answer in the general election that she didn't in the primary is her own checkered background.”

Jeez. Rove is out there telling the truth. I wonder how long he will last on Fox Spews.

Karl Rove is not cool anymore. He is now a RINO.

I think you have Rove mixed up with somebody else. He was hated for being effective moreso than for lying or being clueless.

(Of course, when you're effective, political enemies are quick to apply those other labels.)

He's quite possibly still being the architect.

Christine has raised over $1 million on her website in the last 24 hours.

Maybe us illiterate rubes failed to listen?

Odds are she didn't get it from the citizens of Delaware. How do you feel about outsiders coming in to a political race and trying to tell the locals what to do?

As I recall, the wingtards on this board usually get a blood pressure boost when they accuse MoveOn of getting involved in state races.

$1M isn't much for a senate race, folks.

Joe Biden spent $7M in 2008 when he, umm, stomped our gal Christine quite handily.

And this is a surprise why?

Everyone is in politician's pockets these days:

Unions
Corporations
Political action groups
Ringling Bros
The three stooges
Ren & Stimpy

It is not like this isn't anything new

As long as a Congressman or Senator that doesn't live in my state can be allowed to vote for a tax increase on my income, fuel, cell phone, etc for the purpose of funding something to benefit his state, then I should be able to help defeat him with my money by contributing it to his opponent.

I guess as long as it's legal, then why not? As long as MoveOn, SEIU, AFL-CIO etc. can come in and be political "crowds", and contributors for Dems, why should the left be bothered by individual citizens putting their money where their interests are?

Or should I only be allowed to contribute to the RNC and hope they support the candidates I like? This is why the Repubs have so many RINO's as it is.

Unions don't seem to have a problem using dues to support Dems.. I seriously doubt the rank and file Union members are all dems

And there is a huge difference between Soros', BILLIONS, and my measly $100.

I know next to nothing about O'Donnell, but I do know her opponent in the primary was nothing more than a warmed-over liberal. That was the point of the primary and its outcome.
We'll see how it plays out in the general election.
The issue on this board is that liberals see the letter "R" by someone's name and they make some assumptions. Many Litsters believe W. was conservative. The people who voted for O'Donnell don't think W. was conservative, they don't think McCain is conservative, and they are tired of Republicans who don't mind the government takeover of medical care (or almost any other liberal cause) as long as it doesn't happen too fast.

The whole Tea Party movement appears to me to be just what Obama ordered. These nut jobs that only appeal to the extreme rightwing of the GOP can win primaries, but won't win elections.

THE US is a conservative country, but not this conservative.

Hell, they don't think Reagan was conservative.

And they're a distinct minority in Delaware, which is the only metric that really counts.

She's never got even half the votes she would need to win the election.

It's as if the Democrats had nominated Walter Mondale again in 1988. "He'll do it THIS time, for sure!"

Maybe, these "nut jobs" just want a clear difference in our representatives.

Instead of "Give away the farm" or "Give away the farm, light".

Or, do "nut jobs" not deserve representation in Barry's Wonderland?

And that's the gist of the flare-up between Rove and Hannity. Hannity sees it as a victory for conservatives, even though they'll likely lose on Election Day. Rove sees Castle as another number on the Republican side of the aisle, though he'd likely vote with the Democrats 25-50 percent of the time.

I tend to see it a little different.

Going along to get along is what lost the House and Senate for the Republicans in '06

They won in '94 on Conservative ideals, then got drunk with power and started being semi-Statists. Abandoning what got them there in the process.

Whereas the other guy is going to vote with the Democrats 100% of the time, give or take. (And O'Donnell will get to vote 0% of the time.)

You'd think people could do the math.

The modern political term "conservative" roots from Barry Goldwater...

...and the Gipper was much more an actor than a conservative.

Millions no doubt will love him forever for the presidential role he played in our nation's history.

But you and I know this has nothing at all to do with being pragmatic. That's what makes this whole thing so interesting.
These people want the Republican Party to stand for something, but after eight years of W. it seems the only thing that separates the Democrats and a lot of Republicans in office is foreign policy. The way the Republicans spent before 2007 says a lot about the current makeup of the party.
Of course, after 2006, the way the Democrats spent says volumes more.

Well-stated.

Rove sounds like it was personal for him.

You are so convinced that in this electoral climate that the state is going to elect a communist.

How badly do you hate conservatives?

Are you in the wrong party?
