Best book to movie adaption

The Ruins was very close to the book.

Really? Because they completely changed the ending (as I knew they would--no mainstream Hollywood movie could ever use the book's ending) and the fates of both female characters, even though Scott Smith also wrote the screenplay.

I didn't think either the book or the movie was especially good.

Movie wasn't nearly as good as the book.

My personal favorite might be Fight Club.

Depends on what you mean by "best"

Most accurate adaptation or best movie adapted from a book?

Is this just novels and short stories or graphic novels as well?

If it includes graphic novels I would also say Road to perdition.

I kinda liked the book but not the movie. At least in terms of entertainment value. I breezed right through the book and had a decent enough time with it. The movie I just got bored with.

Hmm, now that I think about it she did get out though her eye flashed with the plant, I think. Seems like they also had an alternative ending a la Carrie jump scene at the grave site. I guess other than that it held to the book.
