Confessions: What Are Yours?

ICT totally forgetting all of my hw this weekend. Yes I am a bad student :D

ICT stress has made me chew off all my fingernails and I hate it. Chewed up fingers are a telltale sign of weakness in my book, and I don't like appearing weak in the least.

*sigh*

Back to square one.

I confess that I am starting to grow weary of and offended by a good friend's increasingly militant stance of vegetarianism. Yes, I appreciate the fact that you feel hunting for food and clothing is okay- that proves you have a shred of common sense and human instinct. Yes, I understand what the conditions are like in major cattle yards and chicken farms. Yes, I am aware of all the results of pollution and deforestation, and yadda yadda yadda. It all makes PERFECT sense, and I agree.

HOWEVER...

While I am a staunch supporter of animal rights, I feel that they must take a back seat sometimes to basic human rights. As such, why should I care about the plight of beef cattle in Argentina when there are children freezing on American streets this very night? Why should I worry about what frying hens are being fed while caged when there are thousands of families in the developed 1st world without food on their tables? Why should I worry about what cattle barons have done to the employment statuses of people 10,000 miles away when less than 100 miles away there are people who would lose their source of income if the meat industry was shut down? And, to steal a sig line from OnTheDF, just why should chickens have more rights than same-sex couples in California?

I love you to death, dear, but be fucking realistic about this. Also, try not to be so hypocritical- I know you love your Taco Bell and that you only eat veggie and cheese dishes from there (cheese IS an animal byproduct, you know- have you checked the conditions for dairy cows lately?). But, do you really think that because that's what you spend it on that's what it goes back into? They don't mark your money as "vegetarian" and put in a special fund that only goes to more tomatoes and lettuce. You're as much a part of the problem as I am, love.

Ok, that's enough of that...

Now I'm going to enjoy my fucking taco...

ICT I just watched secretary, and now I want to bang Maggie Gyllenhall like a bass snare drum.

Glasspenguin,

ICT that your post cracked me up! I agree with you! It may be good for you, it's not for me. I don't give you shit about your choice, so don't give me shit about mine!

That's probably the only thing that Peter Sarsgaard will be ever be able to hold over anyone. I can just see any of his contemporaries going, "Hey Peter, I just won an Oscar- hope you had fun on Skeleton Key 2, hah hah!" and Sarsgaard saying, "Yeah, well I get to go home and have sex with Maggie."

Touche`... Well played, sir...

My all time favorite movie. It pwns. And yes, that's spelled with a "p". You gaming ppl will get it. ;)

I should add that while I enjoy MG thoroughly, I loved this movie even more b/c James Spader was at his quirky best. I have a thing for him. Whadaya' do. :D

ICT if you truly desire anonymity, it would be best to just do it and not announce it to the world. Kinda defeats the original objective unless there were other motives...

Of course there were other motives. And they played out exactly as I knew they would.

Shocking.

As for the confession:

ICT some ppl really forget that history tells all.

ICT I am very glad I have an excellent memory...selective at times for things that aren't worth remembering or have been forgiven, but excellent nonetheless.

Thanks. Yes there are some details that I may share later. It was emotional for me. I had worked hard to get the job and leaving was difficult. I am sure that there is something waiting for me to discover.
Wow, so you went ahead and did it? I wish you good luck and happiness, friend. And peace. I hope you find all you're looking for :rose:

You too? I was talking with someone just a few hours ago and told them I didn't wear weak well. So, chins up and it's going to get better.

Good morning Ima

ICT I'm too lazy to start a thread of any kind:rolleyes: (plus I think that if I were to ever try to leave again, the responsibility of maintaining a frequented thread would preclude my departure)

ICT it occurs to me that my paranoia and mistrust of nearly everyone almost certainly guarantees I will be forever lonely:(
ICT while this may seem like impetus for a change, I'm certain it will not be:cool:

ICT every time I see the stray dog on my break that it tears my heart. He's very streetwise. I see him every so often. I tried on time to talk to him but he just runs away. No telling what kind of cruelty he's been given. I wish I could take him and make him a happy dog. A dog, when they're happy, is one of life's best things to watch.

ICT I heard my female neighbor get what sounded like a really solid and vigirous fucking, and it's made me horny as hell all night!

Good morning, hon. Here we are contemplating lonliness for different reasons. I'm glad you are back. If you're like me, you've had experiences that led to that mistrust of people. I personally think that dogs are better than most people. Lots will disagree, I'm sure but that's just me.

I never quite managed to leave but tried to for awhile, until I realized that the majority of my meaningful human contact occurs on Lit.

I'd love to have a dog again but living arrangements prohibit dog ownership:(

Well we're glad to have you :rose: I'm sorry you can't have a dog :( If I had to go without one, I think I couldn't bear it. They mean so much to me.

ICT not being able to have a dog sucks. My apartment building doesn't allow dogs or cats, so sometimes it gets lonely when the wife is away.

I appreciate how you:rose: and others (most with whom I've never talked:eek::confused:) have made me feel welcomed here:)

I definitely understand how a dog can most certainly be as important as any human family member or friend:D

ICT my perpetual self-screening of everything I post hobbles my ability to carry on a conversation:eek:

ICT my above confession just made me think of a Bill Cosby bit where he talks about thinking, as a child, that his father was an idiot because he spoke in stuttered incomplete sentences. Only in adulthood and in the course of his own life as a parent did he come to realize that the reason his father spoke as he did was due to his father's self-editing of his words, especially removing expletives:D

I'm sorry sweetie. I don't know why so many places are like that. To me, it isn't a home without a critter to love. You can visit my dog. He's a big love bug.
