Is Literotica the wrong place for "soft" erotica/romantica/erotic romance?

Okay folks...

Have I come to the wrong place if my interest is mostly in "softer" stuff?

I mean, the stories I'm working on are all pretty "soft", i.e., there's no BDSM or anything "kinky" in any way...

My stories usually feature foreplay, and penile-vaginal and/or penile-anal penetration and/or oral sex - usually cunnilingus, occasionally fellatio...

I like to try and make the descriptions of the sex explicit and detailed, but I prefer to use softer words, more "poetic" descriptions...

The usual themes in my stories are just first-time stories, cuckold stories, etc. Never any incest or anything of that nature...

So, are there others here with tastes similar to mine, or are my tastes too tame/boring?

There are definitely plenty of readers looking for just those things. I think you'll find an appreciative audience. Just remember to select a category for your work carefully. It sounds to me as if the "romance" or "first time" categories would suit you very well. I'd suggest steering clear of "loving wives" on your first outing, as there are perennial arguments over what that means (loving their husbands, or loving someone else) and the category has a reputation for attracting some unreasonable sniping and ugly feedback. But if you like cuckolding stories, that's probably the place for them.

Best of luck, and welcome to the site.

I've had some success with writing stories in the romantic genre'. More importantly, you should write the sort of story you enjoy writing and are comfortable with. Readers on this site are a broad cross section of tastes in Erotica. Your audience will find you. ;)

Welcome to Lit and the AH. :D

No, those genres are all good here. There are thousands of readers here covering a vast range of interests.

There's plenty of room here for romance, though it may include a wide array of characters.

Romance generally scores higher than other categories. I wouldn't worry about it at all. :)

You'll do just fine. Not everyone is looking for hardcore at all. In fact, it has been my experience that readers want a story with real characters and real emotions. Some people are only looking for stroke, and there's nothing wrong with that either. I write both--romantic and stroke--depending on my mood. Most people just want to be able to lose themselves in a story, so I think you'll do well. :)

You got good answers from all the best people here, but I'll add my 2 cents anyhow.

Yep. :) Always had success with that sort of thing here.

(Hello you all )

Is there a market for straight romance with no sex at all?
There is a big market for it--but if you asking if there's a market for it on this site...well this site is titled Lit-erotica and few people come here looking for those sorts of romances. For a romantic story with sex rather than a sex story with romance, yes, but for a romance with no sex at all? Why come here for that?

There are other sites and e-publishers, however, who are very much in the market for such romances. So if that's what you're writing you'll have no problem finding a home for it.

There is an audience for any kind of erotic story. Choose your tags carefully when you submit the story and readers will find you.

Romance is, by definition, more soft than BDSM or Erotic Couplings. There is a big audience here for romance stories, but as major imprints and movies have shown over years now, there is a rejection of closing the bedroom door when writing.

As I see it, there is no need to get completely down to bodily fluids, but physicality and the acceptance of people wanting to consummate a relationship is now an essential part of mainstream fiction writing.

Review the nonerotic category here (and look for its section on the "Top" lists, where you can see the sorts of ratings and vote numbers being given to nonerotica). You can also check the nonerotic tags on the "highest views" lists. If you do, you'll find for yourself that there's a healthy-sized and appreciative audience for straight romance at Literotica. It won't be every reader's cup of joe here, of course, but no category is.
