Sarah Palin pulls a Dixie chicks

So if I understand you correctly, it's okay for a POLITICIAN to go to another country to criticize America, but not okay for an ENTERTAINER to do so?

Curious set of values you have there.

Politicians expound on politics, entertainers entertain. I know, radical idea!

I am honored that you see things differently :D

Though, as our resident wingnut AJ mentions, Obama the senator and candidate already opened the box on the idea that it's OK for a politician to go to another country and criticize things that many Americans believe in and worked for. (Or see also Nancy Pelosi's field trips, etc etc.)

And we have yet to see ANY PROOF Throb

PROOF

that Sarah Palin attacked her country or President. (Obama did when he was a candidate.)

That makes her unqualified to lead, right?

How about that Jewish "Occupation" of Palestine...

no DUMMY, the difference is

Palin mentioned policy

the D Chix said they were ashamed to ba Americans

Not that YOU would get it:D
If you could type, you would be lying.

The Dixie Chicks didn't say that they were ashamed to be Americans.

Not that YOU could see the difference.

Fuckin ay man.....Rick Perry, Tibet, Ralph Malph, and the Dali lama reference....

You turds better start laughing at my jokes or you're not gonna be on the guest list anymore.

Neither did Sarah Palin, but by his unabashed apologies, Obama inferred it.

He's the official spokesperson for America, dumbass.

Obama the candidate said stuff like this in Berlin before he was official spokesman:

"The two superpowers that faced each other across the wall of this city came too close too often to destroying all we have built and all that we love."

"know my country has not perfected itself. At times, we've struggled to keep the promise of liberty and equality for all of our people. We've made our share of mistakes, and there are times when our actions around the world have not lived up to our best intentions. "

As well as some more subtle references to immigration, income inequity, and other topics.

Throb's not nuanced enough to get that, ergo, he'll start with the personal attacks because he has no

PROOF!!!

Fair enough. Here's what they (well, Natalie Maines) did say, though:

'Just so you know, we’re on the good side with y’all. We do not want this war, this violence, and we’re ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas."

" I feel the President is ignoring the opinions of many in the U.S. and alienating the rest of the world."

And apparently this was bad, because this apology followed:

'As a concerned American citizen, I apologize to President Bush because my remark was disrespectful. I feel that whoever holds that office should be treated with the utmost respect. We are currently in Europe and witnessing a huge anti-American sentiment as a result of the perceived rush to war. While war may remain a viable option, as a mother, I just want to see every possible alternative exhausted before children and American soldiers' lives are lost. I love my country. I am a proud American."

Barack ain't ever going to apologize and Sarah has nothing to apologize for...

Unless Throb has PROOF!

This is simply the thread of the week.

Maybe the month...

What makes it bad in your view? You say "apparently this was bad", then follow it with "my remark was disrespectful" as the reason for the apology.

Now if you said, "apparently this was disrespectful," I could agree with you. "Bad" I don't see.

I wasn't trying to be too clever here...I think the "bad" connotation of "disrespectful" is part of the definition of disrespectul ("discourteous, rude") , at least in this context.

Were you thinking that one would apologize for being disrespectful it if wasn't bad? I don't follow that.

Seriously, why does anyone care?
If she was in office then it might matter but she's not so any criticism of her just for saying it is contrary to free speech that everyone here claims they support.
Criticism of the words themselves is ok but just saying that she's wrong for speaking her mind is hypocritical.

Personally, I don't care one iota if any American, public or not, criticizes America outside of its borders.

I'm simply pointin' out the intrinsic hypocrisy of the Firespins and Crisco Slug Esq for the two standards they apply: Liberals criticizin' Amurica overseas- BAD, Conservatives criticizin' Amurica overseas - <crickets chirpin'>

Mrs. Palin took one of Professor busybody's classes Pass/Fail. But busybody gave her a "too Dumz" for a grade. She's still pissed.

Wait a minute...I thought busybody taught Remedial Feminine Hygiene?
