Riding crop vs. cane

A few years ago I am sure I read an article about why the cane hurts the way it does.

I seem to recall it spoke of the way a cane lands, and impacts on, skin, compared to the crop or whip.

I have tried to google it but ended up pages deep in the science of sugar cane

I wish I could recall where I read it, does anyone else recall seeing something like that?

Or am I just wandering around in sugar cane crops instead of canes and crops???

I've heard that before, when I had an AV similar to this one. It won't stay long, but the spanking one was just a tad too mild for my mood right now, and I felt a need to visually remind myself of my sadism.

i thought i was terrified of canes. hard limit, safeword territory. Good topic. I'd have to say I favour the crop as my all-time favourite (and most versatile) implement, but the cane has its uses. I see it as more of a specialty tool. The crop hurts just enough to feel good, whereas the cane quite frankly hurts like hell even when used properly so it's not something to make my standby.

The key to a good caning is to use a lightweight model and be very gentle, striking only from the wrist. No more pressure is needed or else you'll quickly go from the green to the red zone.

Haha, yes. All depends what sort of pain you're going for. If the crop is a 4-6, the cane is an 8 and possibly higher depending on how thick it is and how much force is used.

(My own estimations because I'm a dom and I'm usually the one wielding this stuff, not on the receiving end of it. I apologize if they're off.)

With my current sub gf (of about 4 months), the cane and the crop are very very different things. The crop was mine, the cane she bought for me because I didn't own one.

When I use the cane on her, which is rarely as she's not a pain slut and I'm not that particular kind of sadist, it's all about the cane and the pain. The focus of that moment always seems to be about the cane-as-object and it's ability to inflict more pain than anything else we have handy. It's not about sex, or me, or us, really. Depending on the reason I have the cane in my hand, it's a little bit about submission but more about either punishment or her desire to test herself.

The crop gets used a lot more. I think of the crop as a sex toy, not specifically a pain-causing implement. It's used to tease and arouse as much as it is to make it hurt. I love teasing her with it. I love using it on her nipples, breasts, and between her legs. The cane is much less versatile.

I actually have no opinion on this topic. The closest I've come to a cane is the whippy end of an Ugly Stick, and the crop has always been and intimidation technique on horseback never used on me.

Not at all, KC (and you know it, brat!). I like both cane and crop - and just about anything else I can use on someone's behind! - and love to use them not only to produce painful but also pleasurable sensations.

What I *was* trying to say was that experience and creativity in applying any of our toys counts as much as, if not more, than which toy it is.
