There.
Better for summer?

Continuing with the fated Fuck Me Thread:

Don't knock the rut! when you get jolted out of it for whatever reason it's one hell of a shock and you realise what a lovely place it was to be. Give me back my rut now!

I understand exactly what you're saying.

Is it greedy to dream of a more spacious rut?

Or you could be talking of a Groove. I consider Groove the good side of Rut. I think if you're in a comfortable routine where you're producing, you're in a Groove. If you're in a comfortable routine and not producing, you're in a Rut. I'd say you're in a Groove because you're making poems for Survivor. I've developed a routine that I want to break because I'm not doing anything. Would love to find a productive groove that calls for plenty of work that doesn't feel like work.

Last summer our pool (aboveground) needed some work and then Ike came along and finished it off:(
Likely water temperature would be like bath water. Still there were nights when my wife and I would slip into the pool, slip out of our suits and ...;)

Rut vs groove. Sometimes the day-to-day routine is tedious, at others provides stability.

You had it and you have memories and you can get it again.
If a big bundle of dough came along a pool would be a high priority investment. It'd be a second home.

Long time since I skinny dipped these days would be more like beached whale

Oh Annie, that's a load of hooey!

Remember that night someone enticed us gals into showing our boobies? My hubby still asks about you, refers to you as that hot blond on Lit,. You don't even remotely resemble a whale.

not even!

Tall teas and sweaty, ice-packed glasses.
Or lemonade. Hmm, lemonade.

Wow, two Texas pool victims.
Sorry to hear about that.

Yes I did show him and he thoroughly enjoyed. He really does ask about you every time I sign on. You know how most men are, if the wife will let him look he is gonna ask every chance he gets, lol.

are you only suffering from heat or are you in a sauna heat like we have here? so much humidity it reminds me of Miami.

all this talk about iced teas and skinny dipping.. seems like everyone is enjoying the summer. I am just thankful for my air conditioning.

I threw my back out Monday morning. I have a back condition my doctor says is common in women who have had large babies (my smallest was 8 lb. 15oz). So, basically, I have been lying on the floor all week. I was getting really frustrated yesterday cuz I was in the worst pain yet, but it seems like something has kinda snapped back into place and I just have some pain and stiffness.

The other day, I looked at my recent activity on Lit. Saw that some of my poems and stories had been trolled by some anonymous annoyance. How pathetic must your life be that you go through some of a writers work just to troll them? LOL Not sure what they think that does except show their lack of a life. Guess they are expecting me to curl up in a ball under soft whimpers in the dark and stop writing.. lol People are funny.

Anyway, I hope you are all doing well.
Hopefully, I will feel up to painting today since I still have one painting I would like to finish before my art show.

what area of the country do you live in, Lady? I am kinda assuming near Hot-lanta? if so, we are sharing similar weather. And I can't do mucha nothing with a cast on, so I can empathize with you. It was a bitch just trying to shower today.

ps, kudos to you for birthin' such big younguns, my biggest was only 7lbs 14 oz but now she is 6 foot tall, taller than me or her daddy.

kids are such a trip, aren't they.

:)

If in the water how could one be a beached whale?

Oh shush anyway they beach in the shallows, one beached itself when I was a kid though what a whale was doing off a Norfolk Uk beach I have no idea and I don't like to recall the stench. Anymore of that and you will get smacked buttocks.

Great to see you
sorry about your back and your pesky visitors.
Me, I'm doing fantastic. Not doing nothing no good, but I'm happy.
It's a beaut out there. This appears the time to get out there and just walk and look and listen and stick it all in a sensual savings account, then about mid-September, should be quite a lot to play with. In the meantime... life's a cherry.

When you're forced to sit and stare it's lovely to see the little things. The baby blackbird being fed on my birdtable by a very harrassed dad with the babe already much bigger than he is but still squawking and fluttering for more. Dad used to be so timid but now he comes down when I'm still dishing up wonderful feeling that he trusts me to be within arms length
The baby sparrows line up on the fence and dad goes along feeding each one in turn till he gets to the end then starting again at the beginning of the line.

She's in Austin - a bit hotter and not quite as humid as Houston, but not desert by any means either. Her grass may be brown - watering restrictions are stricter there - Houston has lots of water (but some of it comes from underground and leads to subsidence - part of my studies). I'm moving the sprinkler to keep the grass green and have watered the vegetables and other plants outside.

:)

Actually, i m in central PA. I went to college about 20 minutes north of ATL. I've been a Falcons fan ever since. (I assume that's why you thought i was from there.)

I'm just not a fan of summer. Here in PA, it is so humid.

Kids are a real trip. I can't believe my oldest is going to be 17 in August. That's just crazy! Next year at this time, she'll be getting ready to go off to college. That's just mind-boggling. I don't know how i will deal with that, you know, with my depression and stuff. It will be a positive thing to see her going off to make her own life, but I imagine it will be hard for me at times.

Just had a stupendous storm couldn't rain any harder and hailing too, they get stuck amid our hills and the thunder n lighting hangs around for hours. My back garden is now a lake well a very large puddle anyway

Thank you, hmmnmmish and you too, Annie..

I am feeling much better today. I actually went to Walmart with a friend of mine. Last night, it felt like something in my lower back cracked back into place.. and I have felt much better ever since. Thank God!!!

I hibernate during the summer. I hate the heat so much! But, it's always nice to hear about people enjoying it. Well, I got some serious writing to do.

Had a friend staying the night once she had a bad back, we had to go somewhere or other on the bus and as we stood up to get off the bus lurched braked suddenly I think clicked her back into pain free!

Well I don't mean to mislead. I'm not out there as I ought to be. It's not humid and nothing near the heat like they get in TX, but it's a brief interlude between the tail end of winter-like symptoms and the beginning of the fires, which could commence in a couple weeks and there'll be smoke everywhere the rest of the summer. So a wise person would be out and getting the goods while it's possible. A wise person who also had camera gear would spend their last dime on as much film as possible and be out there dawn to dusk. I am a fool to let it go to waste. But we seldom appreciate the blessings, it seems.

New paintings?
Like the one with the lighthouse on the cliff.

Steelers or Eagles as well, or just the Falcons? My MS in Colorado added the Broncos, and Houston has the Texans. From my youth its the Bears, or if they're not doing well, the Packers.

I recall some of that from Illinois. But worse here in Houston.

I know, my son just got his BS and on to his MS in the fall (and no more student loans).
