The FDA announced today that it had received 23 reports of serious liver damage linked to Hydroxycut. The makers of Hydroxycut immediately issued a recall of all 14 products distributed by them.

Full Story here

Personally I'm wondering if they're from use of Hydroxycut Hardcore or Max. The normal stuff isn't too bad, but those can really screw your body up and quite a few people won't listen to their own body complain. If you've never used Hardcore, from personal experience it will majorly increase your metabolism, give you a huge boost in energy, however at the cost of high raised body temp/heart rate/nausea. I tried it for a little while, by the time I was close to the full dose my body literally wanted to hurl at the thought, so up and quit it myself. However, there are quite a few people who will push through it for the quick weight loss.

I used to take that all the time.

Oops.

Yeah, well they reported selling 9 million bottles of the stuff last year alone. And I know its been on the market for something like a decade. Like I said, even though the article claims the people used them according to the label, I wonder. Often times people don't do as recommended, like when I bought mine, the clerk at GNC straight up advised me to take good vitamins and drink lots of water. First reaction for a lot of people would be that he's just trying to pad the bill, but there is a grain of truth, in that you take anything like that, you need to take vitamins, as well as eat right.

.....and if you're eating handfuls of the product per day, THEN you're probably in trouble.

Agreed. Glanced at the old bottle of Hardcore I had, and on the front of the bottle, in white on a red background it specifically says "DO NOT EXCEED RECOMMENDED DOSAGE".
Also curious if this came from long term usage. Build up over a few years, ya know?

Indeed. And exactly how many cases of liver damage connected to use of Hydroxycut were discovered and investigated? One?

According to the article...23.

Hmmm...I never know what to believe from the news anymore. I'm sure some sources say 23, tomorrow it'll be 20, and five years from now they'll say that at the time, there were 50 cases.
