This ORP takes place along the same time line as the movie "Star Trek Nemesis", with some added mixtures and differences. Jean-Luc Picard is in command of the USS Enterprise, with its normal compliment of crew and key personnel. The USS Voyager has returned from the Delta Quadrant, and Janeway is an Admiral in command of Starfleet Operations. Spock is the Vulcan Ambassador to the United Federation of Planets. Kirk is around somewhere, as he returned in the series of books written by Shatner.

However, none of those characters figure into our particular story, except you may choose to use a character previously originated in the TV series (TNG, DS9 or Voyager).

Or you may, as I have, create an entirely new character.

The setting for the ORP is the starship USS Arizona NCC-71941, a Sovereign Class battleship. This particular ship is tasked as a patrol vessel, providing a high-threat posture along the Romulan Neutral Zone and other areas where incidents are likely. Arizona is considered to be a significant asset to deter piracy, smuggling, or other illegal activities along the outer quadrant colonies. Arizona’s crew compliment includes a Hazard Team, a group of special operations capable troopers designated for extreme duty away missions. Arizona is equipped with classified technology, including a cloaking device, sensor masking equipment, and highly fortified shields tested to withstand Borg cutting beams.

Arizona is currently in Orbital Space Dock (McKinley Station) awaiting the staffing of key personnel.

Commanding Officer: (me!!)
John A. Harper, Captain
42 YOA, lt. brown hair, blue eyes
6’01” 185 lbs.

Former Starfleet Intelligence Specialist assigned to USS Voyager. Harper served also on Voyager’s Hazard Team, then transferred into Starfleet Operations at the recommendation of Captain Picard upon return. Harper served as a combat tactics instructor at Starfleet Academy for a year before being assigned as XO aboard USS Intrepid V. The Arizona is Harper’s first starship command.

---

So….we need an XO, Tactical/Security, Helm, Ship’s Doctor, maybe a comm officer, and other peoples…..
PM with position requests…questions….etc.

It had been nearly eight years since they had come and taken everything away from him. They came without warning, killing or capturing all he had known or loved and stealing from him all who he was, his memories, his experiences, the very essence of what it had been to be human.

Borg: the hive mind that was the Collective. A million voices overlapping at once, and none of them his own. He had served aboard the USS Ahwahnee until the attack at Wolf 359 and his assimilation. The Ahwahnee had been disabled and nearly destroyed during the battle, and the Collective deemed it inefficient to collect and finish assimilating the damaged and partially assimilated vessel. The Ahwahnee was left adrift in space. He spent four years in that hellish place; a mindless drone awaiting the Collective’s orders until the ship was discovered by a Federation science vessel. The 19 drones found were immediately isolated and forcefields erected to sever their ties with the hive mind.

He was sent initially to the Daystrom Research Institute for study. Of the original 19 drones discovered on the abandoned ship, only three survived the initial surgeries to remove the tracking and communications nodes from their bodies. Subsequent surgeries to remove the other Borg implants and nanoprobes proved fatal to two others. The nanoprobes and most of the implants had ingrained themselves too deeply into the final Borg body to be safely removed. The right arm and hand, right leg, and much of the upper torso remained amalgamations of Borg technology and flesh, but the scientists were able to remove most of the implants from the head and face, save an aural improvement implant near the left ear.

While there, the science team began to notice changes to the Borg drone that only referred to himself as “Nine of Nineteen.” He began to act less robotically and periodically referred to himself as “I” instead of “we.” The studies on him continued for well over a year until they felt he was ready to rejoin that which the Borg had taken from him. Even though he has been disconnected from the Borg for nearly 18 months, he still has terrible nightmares surrounding the images and thought he experienced while in the collective and remains lonely, even when surrounded by those who have come to call him a friend.

Following a highly publicized and scrutinized refresher course at Starfleet Academy, Nine of Nineteen was reinstated into Starfleet and posted on the Arizona. During the following three years, he quickly worked his way up to Tactical Officer and Head of Ship Security. Many of the remarks in his service record reflect the efficient and rational line of thought that all Tactical Officers must master to become successful. And while he continues to try to unearth more of his memories and the life he used to have, he fears losing the cold and mechanical efficiency from the Borg that has made him so successful and has yet to take back the name he once had.

Name: Marjia Orsoth
Age: 43
Gender: Female
Rank: Lt. Commander
Position: Head of Engineering

Official background: Born and raised on a conceeded Federation world during one of the many terratorial shifts when the Cardassians were a relativly unknown people, She grew up in a traditional Cardassian style, with alliegence to the state first and formost. It just so happened that the controlling state was the United Federation of Planets. Taking what work was available to her in her youth, Marjia soon found an aptitude in engeneering and mechanics. She focussed diligently on improving her skills in that area until she was old enough to enlist with Starfleet Acadamy.

Although she didn't graduate at the top of her class, she still stood out as being the sole member of her species to join the Federation and, willing to prove that Cardassians were just as capable as any other species, she would throw herself into her work at every oppotunity.

Her first posting as an engineer was aboard the USS Tia An Men, as part of the hastilly assigned crew, prior to it's assistance of the USS Enterprise-D in 2368. Not long after the task force was dispanded, Marjia gained a promotion to the rank of Lt. Commander and was reassigned to Earth shortly before the outbreak of hostilities with the Cardassian Union

Now that relations have improved, she has been assigned as the cheif engineer aboad the USS Arizona.

Of course, being a Cardassian from the days of the Obsidian Order, any number of these facts might be false in relation to the woman now serving aboard the Arizona. But then, they might all be true. The only one who knows is Marjia Orsoth, and she's always stuck to the official events...

(Have to take a bit of creative license with the image. Best out-of-uniform one I could find)

Beauty. Beast.

Name: Kahlest Raan
Rank: Commander
Position: First Officer
Age: 37
Height: 1.791m
Weight: 59.9kg
Eyes: Black
Hair: Dark Brown
Gender: Female
Species: Klingon/Betazoid

Discovered as an infant by a Starfleet vessel investigating an ion storm of unparalleled intensity, the woman who would be called Kahlest Raan is a little bit shrouded in mystery, even to herself. The sole occupant of an advanced civilian shuttlecraft caught in said storm, the baby Kahlest was taken in by the crew of the USS Koh-i-Noor, and briefly became a ward of The Fleet.

Eventually, medical examinations revealed her all-but-unique racial heritage, though necessary genetic modifications had been made, apparently prenatally, to ensure her survival despite the various incompatibilities of her parent species. (As a result, her specific individual progenitors may never be known.)

After some small diplomatic ballyhooing, she was adopted by The Sixth House of Betazed, raised by Betazoids and simultaneously taught the Klingon way of things by a gruff old tutor sent from Qo'noS.

A product of a species that prides itself on peace and sensual delights, and the product of a species that glories in warfare and believes that deprivation builds character, Kahlest has eventually attained a bit of wry spiritual serenity regarding the dichotomy of her condition. Blessed (and cursed) with a paracortex capable of empathy though not telepathy, whilst simultaneously equipped with exoskeletal ridges and redundant physiological organ systems, Kahlest is able to endure inordinate quantities of pain and suffering of her own, while remaining forever palpably cognizant of the emotional discomfort of those around her.

Formidable in combat but touchy about killing, sensitive to the undulations of diplomatic and interpersonal scenarios but fully capable of putting the proverbial hammer down when necessary, Kahlest seemed a natural for the Command track when she entered Starfleet Academy. Granted, it hasn't exactly been smooth sailing the whole time-- one Academy brawl rivaled even that of the legendary M'k'n'zy Calhoun --as people have occasionally been paranoid about a Klingon woman being able to "read thoughts," and have been less than credulous of her protestations that emotions are about her limit. To her credit, Kahlest has been more often than not able to rise above such situations, and it was this ability to rise above that has attained her the rank of Commander.

She doubts she'll ever receive a command of her own, but has turned upon this doubt the same wry serenity with which she approaches the most of life. She is quite comfortable where she is, though given the tumultuous history between Klingons and Romulans, that comfort and serenity is sure to be tested out on the fringe...

I know, I know, she doesn't have the forehead, and the eyes aren't quite Betazoid, but I'm sure you can see this lady playing the sort of part I have in mind...

EDIT: Special thanks to Vic for tracking this image down!

Abraxas:

You have a character in mind for this one?

MilkMan is going to also play Ship's Medical Officer, he will post a bio shortly on that. We've got a Security Chief, First Officer, Chief Engineer, and a member of the Hazard Team.

Helmsman, Hazard Team Commander, Operations Officer (oversees the docking bay, shuttles, transporter, anything to do with fleet materiel' or maintenance - also handles communications on the bridge), Chief of the Ship (COS) - senior most enlisted crewman, handles enlisted crew personnel issues, discipline, also in charge of training, staffing.

And these are just some.

I'd like to have you aboard.

My bio will be up soon:). Let's just say that the messdecks/Rec lounge is (Hopefully) going to be a popular place.

ok, I had a better writen bio done but something i did erased it, so this is the do-over done at 1AM. I reserve the right to tweak the hell outta it after I wake up & get properly caffinated!!!

Name: Connor Orion Jace
Race: Human
Gender:Male
Rank: Lieutenant
Age: 45
Description: 5'11", 185lbs. Black hair graying at the temples, no facial hair. dark green eyes with a scar on his right cheek from a knife wound. His physical build is athletic and not overly muscular (More martial artist than body builder), and he has a well developed sense of balance.

Background:
Much of Connors public Starfleet record is classified. What is know is that he was admitted to Starfleet at age seventeen, and graduated 23rd in his class. His service record shows he was assigned to the USS Gemini, a Akira class starship. His service record stops there for several years until three years ago, where it shows a Disciplinary hearing with the charges of "Gross Negligence resulting in loss if Starfleet personnel and resources."

Connor was busted down to Ensign, and assigned to a Sabre class ship as part of the security detail. His record shows exemplary work onboard the ship, and he quickly reached the rank of Lieutenant. Two weeks ago Connor received orders to report to the USS Arizona as the Deputy Security Officer. He has just arrived on McKinley Station.

Can I just say that this is the coolest idea ever? (I've been a Trekkie since I was a girl!)

Sorry I can't join - I don't think I have the technical expertise - but I just wanted to throw my support in for a Trek Thread.

AWESOME!

Just in case you change your mind, Wolfie, remember you are most welcome here. Star Trek doesn't take technical expertise, just a really good imagination. We're sure to encounter new alien life forms while we are busy going where no one has gone before.

I can say that I am really pleased at the response to this thread. The ship's main crew staff filled up fairly quickly. I wish I had thought of this sooner, but I honestly didn't think anyone would want to play.

Guess I was wrong.

Well, there's a first time for everything.

LOL

Intriguing!

Seems very reminiscent of a couple of Peter David characters on whom I've had crushes!

Looking forward to seeing him in action!

[In lieu of an image, which I haven't got, I offer my best description.]

Name: Isaac Emerson
Age: 23
Height: 6'1'' / 185 Cm
Weight: 159 Lbs. / 72 Kg
Race: Human / Caucasian
Hair: Brown, straight, mid-back length; Always tied.
Eyes: Brown
Rank: Lieutenant
Post: Warp Drive specialist; Engineering

Personnel file:
A tall, wiry young man, Mr. Emerson attended Starfleet Academy as soon as he became eligible, based on a stellar academic record prior to application. Though he earned excellent marks, he also had a number of writeups citing odd or antisocial behavior. Graduating at the top of his class , Emerson specialized in warp and weapons design. His first assignment was aboard the USS Poughkeepsie, where he rose quickly to Lt. Junior Grade. It was short-lived, however, and soon he found himself back on Earth, awaiting commission. Despite the fact that he was thought of as 'suspicious' by a few of his classmates, his former Captain gave him a full recommendation.

Physically, he is far from imposing; With hair grown down his back and tied neatly into a ponytail at the back of his skull, pale white skin and fingernails kept as long as regulation allows. His eyes are a bit sharp, his features narrow, and his posture a little less than superb. Most at home in the dull glow of a warp engine or in the presence of phase and photon weapons arrays, he was pleased at hearing of his posting to the Arizona...Until he found out that his commanding officer in Engineering was Cardassian. "Hah!", his commandant had remarked with the warm smile only an old man can provide, a twinkle in his eyes. "I remember what it was like to be young, my boy! And I think a tour under Lieutenant Commander Orsoth could be just the thing you need to straighten you out!" Troubled at the thought, he furrowed his brow and tuned out the kind words about his new Captain and his own prospects as an officer, taking the buttons to signify his promotion to full Lieutenant with a grain of salt and leaving immediately to pack his bags.

Personal background:
Born in Vladivostok, Russia; Raised from the age of a year in Hyde Park, New York. The only child of Peter Emerson, a marine biologist, and his wife Ustinya, a specialist in the study of aquatic wildlife. Returning with Peter to his home in North America, the pair decided to bear a child. Loving parents as they were, Peter and Ustinya were very upset at their son's reclusive tendencies, and constantly sought a relationship with him; Thus his home life was very good. Never popular socially, Isaac spent most of his time at home studying, even neglecting social functions for students throughout his educational career. Often thought to be depressive, he refused to speak with councilors much of the time, but the few times he would consent, it was placed in his file that he was simply socially awkward and didn't handle interaction well. Generally quiet and introverted, he can come off as overly zealous in his work and even a bit cold, though he won't hesitate to speak up if he is displeased- He has never broken the chain of command or disobeyed an order, but he doesn't waste any time at voicing his disagreement with the orders of his superiors if there is any.
